Letting go

The day was cloudy & dark. Billy was sure there was nothing positive that was going to come. He had just come out of a long meeting & his ex-wife was disagreeing with the settlement amount. It was all about money - very typical of Jessica. He had decided not to judge her by her past but still it haunted him til it became reality. It was her way, a sort of system where she would jump from rich guy to another, and at this time it was Billy who had fallen in the trap. Back in college he was really good at running away from gold diggers but now he had married & divorced a pro. She wasn't letting him go. Jessica was demanding a huge settlement but there were no kids to take care of. Throughout the marriage she had insisted on not having kids because her modelling career was at its peak. Jessica was bad news. Billy found himself reminiscing what he had with sweet Phillipa.

"So when is my show night?" Phillipa inquired from her agent.
As she waited she washed of the paint off her hands. He shifted uncomfortably and studied her face.
"Had booked two months ago, but remember a crisis fell upon us." He stared down.
"Dont go around it, i'm much better now. See i've started painting again. I'm back in my studio," she noticed he didnot want to mention the death of her husband.
But a few months had passed & life had to go on.
"So should i book The Martins for next month?" He smiled heartily, he loved working with Phillipa because she was talented & people loved her work.
"Yes please," she paused to pick up the brush, "I'm ready!"

Nana was done preparing food for Sara when she heard the postman ring the bell.
"The postman is here!" Sara ran to the door & fled outside. Nana followed. Probably it was bills & letters for Philipa. She collected a whole stack of letters and headed towards the house then dropped them on the table.
"This one is addressed to you!" Sara waved the red envelope. Nana was shocked, she never received letters & no one knew Philipa's address especially her relatives from Mexico.
"Open it Nana! Open it!" She repeated.
Nana had no choice but to open it, a photo fell out as she did.
"That's a beautiful family," Sara grinned, "Do you know them?"
"No i don't my love," she put the picture back in the envelope, "Let me finish up before your Mama comes back."
"You're not reading it?" Sara was full of questions today.
"I will as soon as i finish cooking," Nana smiled crookedly.
She was nervous. The woman in the photo looked just like her. Her heart started beating fast. You don't let go of your past; it catches up with you.
