KriYaansh FF: The accidental association

Chapter 6

Recap- Rey meets a cancer specialist to get a second opinion on Ruhi's case while she makes the deal with sameer to free Kria from him. She makes Kria move into an NGO building n then takes her to see a doctor to determine if Kria was healthy enough to sustain a pregnancy n be a surrogate for her n Rey's child.

"I don't think those tests are necessary.. I'm perfectly fine.." Kria said once they sat in the car. "U think too much.." Ruhi responded making a face. "Whatever.. I really didn't understand the purpose of this visit.. had I known what was coming, I would have never agreed to go with u.." Kria whined. Ruhi just shook her head n asked Kria to rest till they reached the NGO building.
"Kria, I want to talk to u about something.." Ruhi said when they were in Kria's room. "Yeah, I'm listening.." she replied picking up a newspaper n sat down with it. Ruhi looked at her confused, "what are u doing?" She asked her. "I'm looking for vacancies, the earlier I start, the faster I may land one.." Kria replied scanning through the paper.
Ruhi pulled the paper away, "what are u.." Kria seemed surprised at Ruhi's action. "I need u to listen to me very carefully.. what I'm about to tell u is very important.. n before u come to any conclusion just hear me out completely n then decide, okay?" Ruhi said with a serious expression. "What is the matter, Ruhi? U know I wouldn't doubt u.. then why are u.."
"Kria, I lied to u.." she interjected. Kria looked at her confused, waiting for her to go on. "My name is Ruhi Singhania.. wife of Reyaansh Singhania.." Kria looked at her shocked. "U are joking, right?"
"I'm not.. I came to know about u, a week ago.. Rey wouldn't tell me about his past whenever I tried to ask him the reason for his cold behaviour with me. I knew it was related to his past, some girl probably but who, I didn't know.. even his friends never mentioned u ever.. but when last week, I discovered I was suffering from lung cancer.. I decided to find out about.."
"So all this drama, coming from an NGO, trying to help me, gaining my trust was for this.. u wanted to know what my relation with Rey was like.." Kria cut in. "No, I want u to be our surrogate.." Ruhi interrupted her. Kria stopped speaking listening to what Ruhi said, momentarily forgetting what she was supposed to say to her. It took a few moments to dissolve what she just said. 'She wants me to be a surrogate! A surrogate for Rey n her child!'
"How could u! U want me to be a surrogate for u! N I thought u were trying to help me.. what a fool have I been, to blindly trust a stranger! But now I realize, u are no less than sameer, he duped my mother with his immaculate demeanour n u did the same with me.." Kria closed her eyes for a moment trying to calm herself n then spoke, "I'm thankful for u helping me even though u had other intentions for doing so.. but I don't think I can continue this conversation with u anymore. So we should end it right here.."
"Not before I complete what I wanted to say.." Ruhi voiced n Kria sighed looking at the other side to let Ruhi speak what she wanted to n get over with this soon. "U have to be our surrogate, I'm suffering from cancer n am not in a position to bear a baby.."
"There are many women out there in need of money who will happily be your surrogate, I can't be the one to bear your child.."
"But none of them is u, Rey fell in love with u n still is.. u are the perfect choice for us.."
"I'm not willing to do it, irrespective of whatever u say.."
"Are u hesitating because u are scared to face your past?"
"I don't owe u that explanation.. u can kindly leave.." Kria gestured to the door. 'I didn't want to this Kria but u left me no choice..' Ruhi thought to herself before speaking, "u owe me Kria.. big time. U are the reason for my failed marriage.." Kria was surprised at Ruhi's accusation. "What do u mean? I was not even there when u were married.."
"Exactly, u were gone from Rey's sight but not from his heart n mind.. the heart that shut its doors after u were gone because it only belonged to u.. I have been married to him for 2 years, but we lived like strangers for the whole one year. Had it been up to him, we would have been divorced long ago, but my persuasion is what kept our marriage going n after he realised this, he made effort from his side to at least be a friend if not my partner because marriage is a life long commitment n we could not lead the rest of our lives as strangers. But fate had some other plans for me, just when I was finally able to make a place in his heart n gain his love, with everything being perfect as if nothing could wrong, I was diagnosed with this life threatening disease.. u owe me Kria, that every moment when I craved for my husband's attention but couldn't have it because he had shut himself in a shell, that moment when I blamed myself for Rey's cold behaviour towards me thinking that it must be my fault, that moment when I realised he could never love me the way I love him.. n all other countless moments when I felt lonely n hurt, because he could not move on from the heartbreak u caused.." Ruhi said stressing on the last part as tears tricked down her cheeks. "Tell me Kria, can u get back the time I lost? Can u reverse what was done? Can u make Rey love me like I love him? If not, then u owe me Kria for everything I lost because of u.."
"I.. I didn't know.." Kria stammered unable to believe what Ruhi said. She was at loss of words on learning the revelations made by Ruhi. 'If u cared so much, why didn't u once try to find me Rey!?' She thought remembering that ill-fated day that ruined so many lives. "Not only me, but u owe Rey too.. for breaking his heart so bitterly that he wasn't able to move on from it.. u have to bear our baby to repay us for all the pain n heartbreak u caused us." Ruhi spoke with her face void of any emotions. Ruhi's words kept on repeating in Kria's mind like a song, she felt guilty even though it was not her fault, she was a victim here but Ruhi made her feel that she was responsible for the adversities caused.
"If u ever loved Rey truly, u will not say no.." Ruhi questioned Kria's love as the last nail in the coffin, she knew there was no way Kria would deny her now.  "This is a huge decision.. I need time to think.."
"That is the one thing I don't have.. I need an answer right now. Do I need to remind u again why u owe me n owe us this favor!"
"Okay, I'll do it.. I'll do it, if there's any way, I can be a reason for his happiness then I will give him back what I took away from him years ago."
"Thank u Kria, Rey would be so happy.. we will finally have our baby.." Ruhi exclaimed as Kria wiped a tear that slipped off her eye. "Tomorrow be ready, we need to get the remaining tests done n once all your reports are clear, I'll introduce u to Rey as our surrogate.." Ruhi hugged Kria in joy as she stood still, too shocked to respond. Her life had turned upside down in just a matter of few minutes n now she would be face to face with her past in the most unexpected manner. Being his surrogate! Could her life be anymore unfair?! She sighed as Ruhi broke the hug n asked her to take rest. She told Kria, she would be back tomorrow n then left.
After Ruhi was gone, Kria replayed their whole conversation in her mind, she couldn't believe when Ruhi blamed her for her failed marriage, Kria wasn't even there but as she explained further Kria realised she had completely misjudged Rey. When she had ditched him, Kria was sure Rey would forget about her as one of his flings n move on but listening to Ruhi, she realized even without being there she was the reason for Ruhi's failed marriage.
Kria felt highly guilty that was the reason she gave in n agreed to Ruhi's unusual request. Kria realized how helpless she had been back then but now she has an opportunity of giving back Rey his happiness, that they both deserve which she was responsible for taking away even if she hadn't meant it. The whole day Kria was occupied with her thoughts even at night, she couldn't sleep properly as her past kept coming back to her n it was nearly dawn when she was drained out n didn't even realize when she passed out. It was 10 am n she heard a knock on her door. Kria was still sleeping n after a few more knocks she went to answer it. "U didn't go for breakfast?" Ruhi asked as soon as Kria opened the door. "I.. uh.. slept in, didn't realize what time it was.." Kria replied not disclosing her reason for sleeping in late. "U shouldn't be skipping breakfast.."
"I know.. I will be careful.."
"Okay, so it is 10 am n u have your appointments scheduled today, so why don't you freshen up n I'll ask Apurva to send in your breakfast." Kria just nodded n went in the washroom not in a mood for conversation. Breakfast was already there when Kria exited the washroom n she started eating without a word so that she wouldn't have to talk to Ruhi. Even though she had accepted Ruhi's request, things had become fairly awkward for them after Ruhi's revelations yesterday. Ruhi too understood that it was bound to be awkward n hence only talked to her when needed. 
After Kria was done, they both headed to the hospital to get the tests done as prescribed by the doctor. It was afternoon already by the time they finished so Ruhi suggested they eat out, Kria was going to refuse but Ruhi interrupted her, "Kria, please.. I know everything that has happened has put us in this awkward position but it is also our responsibility to sort this mess out like 2 adults instead of avoiding it n if everything goes as per plan, u will be living with us for the next 9 months at least n we cannot be in the same house avoiding each other every time." Kria thought about what Ruhi said n she did make sense, after all Kria had agreed to the arrangement n there was no backing out now.. so, it'll be in the interest of both to not want to run away whenever they encountered the other. She reluctantly agreed n they went to a restaurant to have their lunch. Ruhi tried to smooth things up between them by talking to her about her hobbies n aspirations, anything to get their minds off the current situation n Kria who was hesitant in the beginning later eased out seeing her efforts, she too engaged in the conversation pushing the current mess at the back of her mind. Ruhi paid the bill n offered to drop Kria at the ngo building.
Kria was going in when Ruhi said she wanted to talk to her. Kria wondered what more was there but let her in anyway. "Uhh.. Kria, u know that your reports will be ready by the evening n I'm positive that it is going to be okay, so after we visit Dr Megha tomorrow, I want to introduce you to Rey as our surrogate." Ruhi stated. "Rey?!" Kria became uneasy on hearing his name, she knew she had to meet him someday, being his surrogate n all.. but tomorrow, that she wasn't expecting nor was she ready to face him. All of this has already been an emotional roller coaster for her n now facing him is too much to take in. "Yes.. I know, it is difficult but as u already know I don't have the liberty of time n it is going to be equally difficult for me since I haven't exactly told him who our surrogate is, because as much as we both know him, he'd refuse the whole idea on hearing your name so I decided it's best if he meets u directly." Seeing her lost, Ruhi spoke up, "please Kria, don't say no.. I will be there to support you n I will also convince him but it is important for him to see u first." Ruhi held her hand to assure her that it'll be okay. Kria closed her eyes for a moment n then responded, "fine.. there's no use delaying the inevitable.. I'm ready."
"Thank you, thank you Kria.. I can never repay u for what u have agreed to give me.. I'll be forever in your debt n u can count on me for any help u ever need." Ruhi said n engulfed her in a hug n Kria meekly responded. Breaking the hug, Ruhi informed her that she'd be going now n collect her reports on her way home. "I'll see u tomorrow.. be ready n thank u once again." Kria nodded n saw her out. She sat on her bed thinking it was going to be one long night for her followed by an eventful day tomorrow. She decided it was best if she occupied herself with something so as to not think about her meeting with him, as it'll only encourage her further to chicken out of the whole deal which was not really an option for her now so she busied herself with a book till she couldn't keep up anymore n fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
It was 7 in the morning when Kria woke up, it was still early but she wasn't sleepy so she went out for a walk to enjoy the cool morning n also met a few ladies. She came back inside when it was 9 n freshened up before it was time for Ruhi to get here. After having her breakfast, Kria again got busy with her book till Ruhi got there. She sprung to her feet hearing a knock on her door, they greeted each other n then proceeded to the hospital for Kria's appointment.
Dr Megha went through her reports n concluded it looked okay n that they could go ahead with the procedure but advised Kria to gain some weight because she was underweight which could cause complications in her pregnancy. She told Ruhi to schedule an appointment with her after Rey has visited the sperm bank so she can go ahead with the procedure. They thanked her n left the hospital en route to the Singhania mansion. Done with the easy part for the day, now it was time for the hard one.
