"Girls do not dress for boys. They dress for themselves and, of course, each other. If girls dressed for boys they'd just walk around naked at all times." - Betsey Johnson

as the sun fell and the stars were starting to arise, despite it only being seven, it grew steadily colder. although salvator's jacket was warm and comfortable, and quite frankly smelled amazing, it was no longer much protection against the high-thirties temperature. elyshia was shivering and salvator's lips were looking quite purple.
"we should buy heavier clothing at walmart," elyshia suggested and salvator nodded slightly, hugging himself. he seemed frozen.
"h-how long until w-we get th-there?"
she bit her lip, looking at him guiltily. "maybe another ten blocks or so."
"well sh-shit," he stammered closing his eyes slightly.
"take your jacket back," she said, already starting to shrug off salvator's jacket but he shook his head quickly, placing his hands on her shoulders to keep the jacket from going anywhere.
"keep it."
"but-"
"elyshia."
she decided not to argue, and was still fully aware that both his hands were still on her shoulders. she was like the guide dog, weaving between streets and mailboxes and shops and cars, until finally they reached walmart. there weren't many cars parked in the not-so-large parking lot which was odd since it was just seven.
"thank god," sighed salvator the minute they stepped inside. a blast of hot air met them, and it was a relief to know that walmart heated their store.
it was quite desserted inside, except for a handful of people shopping for canned food and other necessities like those. the aisles were almost empty. the store clearly needed to restock.
"what are we doing here again?" elyshia asked, wincing at one direction playing quietly on the speakers.
"we are shopping for some much-needed supplies," answered salvator curtly.
"some date."
"it will be some date, when it's really dark outside."
"did you see what it looks like outside?" retorted ely disbelievingly. "what do you want it to be, pitch-black?"
"that's the idea, yeah." salvator frowned, letting go of her shoulders. ely forgot that it was there. "come on, let's go find some toilet paper and eggs."
"you're not thinking of pranking anyone, are you?" elyshia asked with a snort. a mysterious grin spread slowly across his face and elyshia stopped walking abruptly, causing salvator to bump into her.
"hey, ouch! a warning would be nice..."
"why the hell would i want to prank someone?" she practically shrieked and salvator flinched, glancing around. thankfully, there was no one within a ten-foot radius from them. "i can't get in trouble with the law again, don't you understand-"
"what do you mean, again?" he asked and elyshia suddenly looked away, growing quiet. shit, she slipped up big-time. "ely?"
"i'm leaving," she said, turning around and breezing past him. "i had fun."
"wait, elyshia!"
she didn't even bother turning around, although it did kind of break her heart to leave him like that.
"elyshia!"
she flinched when she heard footsteps hurrying to catch up with her. she felt a pair of arms wrap around her shoulders and then smelled that strange, sharp, yet intoxicating, scent of salvator saxon. fuck, her walls were collapsing again.
