in this moment, we were five years old.
enjoying the heat of the summer as we ate our cartoon shaped popsicles.
this was the first time we have ever met.
your tweety bird was slowly melting and dripping down your hand, and
my bat man was missing one gumball eye.
you introduced yourself with your name, i replied by asking if we could
trade popsicles. you agreed.
our mothers smiled.
in this moment, we were ten years old.
you built a pillow and blanket fort in your living room for us. you said
you did it because i looked sad all day. i smiled
and dragged you to our new home for the night. we ate popcorn and
filled our tummies with as much soda as
we could get till we got scolded by your dad. i deemed this the beginning of us.
you deemed this as the start of a crush.
in this moment, we were fifteen years old.
i thought you were taking too long to ask me out on a date, so i asked you out instead.
you blushed and said, "i would love to."
our families and friends had found out and teased us all week long and asked when we were getting married. "never," i joked.
this was the night of our first kiss. you deemed this as the start of us.
i deemed you as my first love.
in this moment, we were seventeen years old.
we were at the airport. you were sending me off across the world to one of the
greatest opportunities of a lifetime to
study with the best. i promised to come back to you. i did not know it then, but
i lied. promises were meant to be broken.
in this moment, i was nineteen years old.
i was getting lonely. it was getting harder to keep us alive. communication was always
short and to the point. the spark we had was dimming.
i deemed this the beginning of the fall of us. you deemed it as just an obstacle for us
