Chapter 2:
Lots of people around me are murmuring and moving to make a path for me straight to the stage. I start to move without really thinking, hoping my Mother will be okay, not worrying about me. I'm nearly at the stage when I hear Katniss scream "Prim!" and she runs toward me. When the Peacekeepers stop her, she struggles. She pushes past them and yells "I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute!" I can't help but burst into tears screaming "No Katniss, no!!!" When she turns around and say "Prim go find Mum, go find Mum." But I won't, never in a million years would I let her go. I feel someone pick me up and say to Katniss "Up you go Catnip." I know who it is- it's Gale. Catnip is his nickname for her. I can't stop crying or yelling for Katniss. I'm kicking and scratching Gale so he will let me down.
When he finally does, I'm right next to my crying Mother who embraces me and tells me everything will be alright, when I know it won't be. I was picked to play in The Hunger Games and Katniss volunteered, but I would rather die than my sister. I barely even notice Effie pick the boy tribute. I know who he is, he's the Bakers son. I think his name is Peeta, but I'm not sure. He always watches me and Katniss when we go to look at the cakes in the window of the Bakery, and I think he likes Katniss. I hope he likes her enough to keep her alive in the arena. Katniss disapers into the Justice Building
When the Mayor calls for the famillies of Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen I pull my mothers hand and run straight for the stage. The Mayors daughter Madge is Katniss's friend is standing behind the Mayor, tears streaming down her pale face. Madge must really care about Katniss, she's only come to our house a few times but the way she's acting today you would think they were sisters but she's not I am. Without thinking I walk straight over to Madge and hug her. At first she flinches but then she accepts my hug and when sob silently holding on to each other.
When the Mayor stops talking I know this means we can go and say our goodbyes to Katniss. I'm dreading this because I no what happens once I leave the room a may never see my sister, the sister that puts food on the table.
We go in and the first thing I do is run up to her, crying where she comforts me when I should be comforting her, she volunteered for me in The Hunger Games! I turn to her and tell her "You have to try Katniss, promise me?" she looks at me obviously trying not to cry when she finally says "I promise Prim, I promise." her voice breaks when she says this. She turns to my mother and she immediately say "don't cry, just don't, you can't leave again, not like when Dad died. I know you were sick but you have medicine now ,you can't leave her your all she has now." my mother just nods. "Gale will bring you Game, Prim you can sell milk and cheese from your Goat and Mother you can sell your medicines, You will fine." Suddenly two grauds burst through the door I start screaming and crying Yelling "Katniss promise me, promise!!!!!!!!!!!" I faintly here as the doors close "I promise Prim."
I walk away when Gale comes past and runs straight into the room where we were as we are ushered out of the building I whisper, "Please be safe Katniss, I love you."
