Matt Murdock forgot what had happened. All he could remember was debris falling onto him like crazy. But he forgot what he was doing moments before death. Praying? Mourning? Or was it something different. And then he saw the light. His body was being dragged out of the tunnel and into a place he always visited, or at least tried. It was the church.

He woke up with bandages all over his chest and there was a bowl of water which was used to cleanse his wounds. He smelled it. Used two hours ago by a sister at the church. The water was dirty with blood. Matt could feel the comfort of the bed, it was far better than his and it made it easier for him to rest. But there was footsteps approaching the room. She had a different smell but she was so familiar. She entered the room and almost broke down into tears. Matt's eyes were barely open but he could sense that she knew him.

"Oh, Matt..." She walked over to Matt and sat on her bed. She leaned over to him and placed a kiss on the forehead, "Oh how much have I missed you."

"Who..." Matt tried to sit down but she placed her hand on his chest. He listened and laid back on the bed. He still needed answers, "are you."

"I'm your mother, Matt," She smiled. Matt's heartbeat suddenly felt calm and his eyes were about to become weary. "I missed you. I wished I never left your father."

"Dad used to talk about you," Matt faintly said as his body took so much damage after Midland Circle, "Ho-how long have I been here?"

"Someone delivered you to our doorstep by the name of Elektra Natchios. She told us to take care of you and she left. Maybe for Europe depending on the way she dressed."

Elektra, now Matt remembered. Matt was with Elektra before he died. Sister Maggie sighed when she looked at Matt. It had been so long since she laid sight on her son. She and Jack were so young when they had Matt and she had worried she would become a bad mother so that is why she had left. She got the towel and rubbed it on his bruised arms.

"When I gave birth to you, I was the happiest woman on Earth. Just ask Jack. We raised you in a small apartment where I had doubts about myself. So I tried to do some bad things to you but luckily Jack stopped me. I knew I couldn't raise you so I left and was taken by the church. I took the name Sister Margaret." She sighed and looked at her son's face one more time, "Your father was a good man. I know you are too."

Matt gave her a smile, that's all he could do as of the moment. Once he was fully healed, he would promise her to spend some time with her. But his body was saying no to it. He may have a bruised rib and some dislocated limbs but it would heal eventually.

"Rest, Matthew. We'll let visitors come to you in a few weeks." Sister Maggie stood up, walking towards the door. Before she left, she reminded Matt, "I promise that your first visitor will be Franklin Nelson."

"Thanks, for everything that you are doing, Mom." Matt smiled

"I'm just keeping up with lost time," She smiled and left the room.

Once Matt knew that she was gone, he stood up. The first thing when he had multiple wounds was to meditate and right now was time to do it. He locked the door and found a clear space on the floor to balance on. He took breathing exercises to start it off but he kept on hearing the news reporter downstairs.

"Two men are apprehended by the so-called Iron Fist in the absence of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen." The news reporter said, "It has been several days now since the explosion at Midland Circle and no sign of Daredevil. Has the masked vigilante given up his job as the protector of Hell's Kitchen?"

"Danny." Matt said softly, avoiding to make any noise.

--2 months later--

Foggy didn't know what to expect. Dressed in a suit that lawyers would usually wear, he entered the church being greeted by nuns. Of course he replied back but he was called by Sister Maggie to meet with a old friend. Maybe someone from his childhood. He only accepted it because he was free. Hogarth didn't have any clients for him throughout the day so he wanted to fill in the request of the Sister.

He entered the hallway where many bedrooms were located. It served as the home for the nuns and the occasionally rooms for the priests but there was a special one waiting for him down the hall. It was Father Lantom's room but someone else was occupying it. This had to be the one that Foggy was looking for.

The room itself was clean and organised but the person inside wasn't very much in good condition. The cuts, bruises and wounds were still visible on his body and it looked like he wasn't hiding it. He didn't have a shirt on and was meditating in the middle of the room.

"M-Matt?" Foggy stuttered, running to him and hugging him. "I thought you were dead."

"The whole world thought that I was dead." Matt spoke back.

"But I attended your funeral, I made arrangements, I - how did you end up here?" Foggy questioned.

"Elektra dragged me here. She was headed off to Europe." Matt sighed, "She'll never be the same woman I know ever again."

"It's aright buddy," Foggy patted his back, "Surprisingly, a lot of people came to your funeral."

Matt chuckled.

"Really Foggy?"

"What?"

"Surprisingly? Don't you think it was expected?" Matt chuckled and Foggy followed.

"Let's see." Foggy tried to remember about his funeral. "Well there's me, Father Lantom, Luke Cage, Claire Temple, Danny Rand, Karen Page..."

"How is Karen right now?"

"She's still bummed out about your death but she's working at New York Bulletin's and she's probably making more money than the firm we ran."

"That comes as no surprise." Matt sighed and started thinking, "I'm sorry, you were saying?"

"Frank Castle, even though I didn't invite him, Colleen Wing, Stephen Strange, his assistant and more people from Hell's Kitchen." Foggy then remembered two other people, "Oh, and Trish Walker and Jessica Jones."

"Jessica Jones." Matt placed his hand on his head, "Why her?"

"I don't know, buddy."

"We have a lot to catch on to."

"We do."

-4 hours later-

"So Wakanda now has a facility in Oakland, California?" Matt asked. "They announced that like a year ago."

"Yeah, Wakanda builds their tech and facilities. very quickly." Foggy thought about more buildings, "Did you know they built a Wakandan school in six months?"

Matt didn't answer because he could sense that someone was walking towards their door. It was one of the nuns and he could sense what time it was.

"Foggy."

"Why? What can you sense?"

"Visiting hours are over." Matt stood up and the nun opened the door, "It's alright, sister, Mr. Nelson will be leaving as duty calls him."

"Alright. Thank you for taking him out, Matthew." The nun smiled and closed the door.

Foggy walked down the hallway with a new spark in him. His best friend was alive and he was happy as ever. He had filled in on what has happened since he was gone. There was no WiFi in the church but there was a TV. Matt chose not to hear it because it messed up his meditation and sleep. Foggy's happy spirits were crushed when, as soon as he exited the church, he saw Jessica Jones.

"Nelson." Jessica nodded her head when she saw him. She took a glance at the church, "Mass?"

"Confession." Foggy corrected, as sweat appeared on his forehead. He wiped it off and got back to reality, "Best be going, Jeri has clients for me."

"Sure. I'm just headed home." Jessica said, passing Foggy and taking a left.

"Thank God."
