I knew I was going to die. The minute I saw his face peer through the door. I have no memory of how I got here only that I was with my best friend Lucy before all of this happened. My blood turned to ice as he walked into the room. I had trusted him. Loved him and he had betrayed me. I tried to scream at him but nothing came out. He saw my expression and laughed. A laugh I had once found so sexy. Now all I heard was evil. He came over and the last thing I remember before all went black was his laugh. Pure Evil.

My name is Arabella Martinez and I am 15 years old. I never knew who my father was and my mother died last year in a car accident. Now I only have my older sister Zia. I live at my boarding school in England which you will here more about later on. I have olive skin and dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. I was born in Brazil so I was brought up speaking spanish but since my mothers death I haven’t spoken a word. My story starts on the first day of Year 10.

“ARABELLA WAKE UP!” screamed my best friend Lucy. “5 more minutes”, I yelled as my voice was muffled by the pillow. “I can’t believe you. Every year the same old thing. Honestly Arabella I thought you would have learnt by now what happens when you are late to morning assembly”, complained Lucy. Truth is I am not a morning person. I hate waking up early especially on the first day of school. I was not looking forward to breakfast where everyone would be talking about the amazing summer holidays they had had while I was stuck here at school. I go to St Theresa's Boarding school for special young ladies. Yep thats me a special young lady. Your probably wondering what makes me so special well I just so happen to be a Patronus. Not the Harry Potter spell but a protector. A protector of of the supernatural. Witches, Vampires, Werewolves, Ghost hunters the lot. I help them fit in with the mortals so they are not hunted and killed on the spot. A Patronus also has some of the powers of the supernatural species they specialize in.

Everyone at St Theresa is a Patronus. We all specialize in one kind of super natural species. My friend Lucy is a whiz with Faeries and has the ability to sweet talk her way out of anything, my mum was amazing with werewolves but I have not found a species I have a connection with yet. This is very unusual because by now I should have decided on helping a species and dedicating my life to their protection. My sister thinks I must just be a late bloomer but I am not so sure. Yesterday I was arguing with a werewolf when out of the blue a thunder cloud appeared and started sending lightning bolts down on to the werewolf and I. This is not the first time my temper has made me summon a storm.

“Arabella let’s go”, whined Lucy. “ Ok, I’m coming”, I replied. I hurriedly put on my uniform. At St Theresa we don’t have a regular uniform consisting of a dress, blazer etc. Here we wear black dress pants, black shirts and a black leather jacket. Basically what the stereotypical spies wear in the movies. My uniform had been tailored so it fit me perfectly. Lucy on the other hand hadn’t been so lucky. She wore her sisters old jacket and shirt and had pants that were way to long for her. Lucy’s family were one of the few families at St Theresa that weren’t filthy rich. This made her very down to earth which I guess was why I liked her so much.

We both sprinted out of our dorm just as the breakfast gong went off. We knew we were late and it was going to be very difficult to sneak in with out Mrs Wilksun seeing us. Slowly we opened the door to the dining hall. All of a sudden 700 pairs of eyes turned to stare at us. “Damn it”, I mumbled under my breath. “ Girls, why are you so late?” questioned Mrs Wilksun from the front of the room on her seat of high council. I decided to admit that it was all my fault because Lucy had gotten into enough trouble last year and I wanted her to start the year fresh. “ My alarm clock didn’t go off Mamn and I was running late so Lucy stayed to help make sure I was going to be ready for my first class this morning”, I replied weakly. “This is your first warning Arabella and as for you Lucy next time report to me first before you decide to be a good friend and turn up late to breakfast”. “Yes Mrs Wilksun”, we replied in monotone voices. “Now sit down both of you and I don’t want to hear a sound”. We plonked ourselves down next to our small group of friends. Emily, Gemma and Alice hadn’t changed a bit since I last saw them but Amelia had dyed her hair blonde and was looking very tanned. I mouthed a silent Hello before focusing my attention onto Mrs Wilksun at the front of the room.
