Dedicated to @niggadamn because she's a cool person and a really helpful friend :)

Timeless.

The girl doesn't know how long she's been in there or why. She doesn't care about it at all. Within the room she will always remain a little girl, carefree and safe.

Effortless.

Effortlessly she jumps on one foot and lands on the opposite side of the room without using her hands to steady herself. She entertains herself with little games like these. The girl doesn't know how she comes up with these ideas but they're fun so she forgets about that. The charcoal smog didn't even need to snuff the idea out of her.

Humorless.

The girl slides her back down the wall and hugs her knees to her chest. Her heart's pounding against her chest and she's panting loudly. The games were fun but not the feeling that came after. She squeezed her eyes shut and willed her mind to take away her awareness of it. What was it called? The thing she was feeling right now. It was familiar but she didn't like it since it left a sour taste in her mouth. It left her dizzy and disoriented and she didn't like that. Had she felt that way before? Yes. Was she sure about that? No.

"Why does this keep on happening to me?" she screeches. Her eyes widen in surprise. The girl touches her fingers to her lips, surprised at what she did.

Speechless.

That's how it was her whole life(was it?). If she did the darkness must have swallowed the memory like it did with most of the others. But this time, it couldn't slither through her head and pull the thought out. It clawed relentlessly at her mind but in the end, the spark kept coming back. In fact, it seemed to glow brighter with each snuff.

"This is so weird." the girl mumbled, shaking her head. She tilted her head up, "Did you know I could do this? Talk? Hello? Can you say stuff too or is it just me?"

It was just her.

"Well I'm bored now." she yawned completely unfazed by her newfound skill. Her heart rate had slowed down to a normal pace so she stood up and started walking again. "Why is this room so small anyways?" she asked the darkness.

The unseen tendrils recoiled as if it were hit. It was hard enough already to snuff a question from her small mind. Spoken, it spread across the room and tainted everything it created. After all, something spoken out loud is easier to remember than a thought floating through one's mind. And a lot harder to kill.

The room shook in response. It was the equivelent of a flinch but the darkness never showed weakness. It was stoic as can be and as far as the girl knew, it kept her safe. She was shocked when the ground started swaying beneath her feet.

She let out a scream and pushed herself back against the wall. For a spit second she thought she saw something flicker in front of her. Something pale. But that was impossible. The only color was the dark. The only beings in the room were her and the dark. And the darkness would never let anything into the room. Especially not light.

"Light's a cruel thing." she spoke. She didn't know why she said it or where the thought sprang from, but she knew her words were true. If she were ever to encounter light, she would hate it at once.

So happy! This came out faster than I thought it would. Sorry I'm such a slow writer but hope you enjoy it =]
