3- She starts running her hands along the walls admiring how flawless they are and how the dark's keeping her safe from whatever's out there.

Normal.

Nothing will ever be normal again. She was sure of that.

The girl ran her hands up and down the smooth walls.

No matter how many times she told herself that it was, it wasn't. She didn't know it yet but everything was crumbling and the girl didn't know why.

The walls felt cold under her palms. Were they always like that? Maybe. Or maybe it was something on the other side that was trying to seep through. But that's impossible. There was no other side. Everything she knew and needed was in there.

There were no bumps, no cracks, no tears in her defences. So what if there was something out there? There's no way for it to get in. How does she even know that the things out there know that she's inside? They haven't bothered her for a while, so why now? They can do whatever they want for all she cares.

As long as the things stay out there.
