I wake up startled by the sound of a loud engine roaring outside the window. I stretch out my arms letting a tired groan fall from my lips.

My eyes peel open and reveal the familiar surroundings of my living room. I must have fallen asleep on the couch last night.

I stand from the couch and rub the sleep from my eyes as i walk over to the window to spread open the white drapes so i can find the source of the noise.

When i look out my eyes land on a big U-Haul truck parked in the drive way next door. Movers dressed in blue jumpsuits carry a large white couch into the house.

Wow i never thought anybody would move into that place again.

I try to catch sight of anybody other then a mover but come up short. A sigh leaves my mouth as i retreat from the window to go downstairs to the basement where my bedroom is.

After my sister moved out, only my mom and i were left in this house so my mom said i could have the basement to myself and of course i didn't deny the offer.

My mom.. i wonder where she is?

As i reach the bottom of the stairs i'm welcomed with the same lavender painted walls and the pale white carpet.

First i go to the bathroom to start getting ready. I start with brushing my teeth. Then move to my makeup. I apply some foundation and mascara and run a thin line of eye liner across my eyelid, winging it at the end. I've never been one to wear much makeup.

I decide against doing anything with my hair and instead let the brown waves fall loosely down my back, hitting just above my waist.

After i'm done in the bathroom i go to my bedroom and into my closet. Stripping myself of my pyjamas i pull on a pink and white floral top along with blue, jean shorts.

Just as i finished getting dressed i hear the front door open upstairs. "Grace?!" i hear my mothers voice faintly call.

I snatch my phone off the dresser checking the time. 10;00? Wow a new record. I come up the stairs to find my mother standing in the door way. "Have you been out all night again?" i ask, crossing my arms over my chest.

She rolls her eyes as she leans down to remove her 6 inch heels "Not now Grace, please." she says, the tone in her voice stern and warning.

I let out a deep sigh, i hate seeing her like this. So broken and such a mess. I decide on saving the argument and walk to the kitchen to get some breakfast. "I'm assuming you'll want pancakes as well?" i say as my mother comes into the kitchen, along with the strong scent of alcohol and cigarette smoke.

"Pancakes sound good." she nods as she opens a bottle of advil and takes three tablets.

"Your only supposed to take two." i mutter as i pour the batter onto the pan.

"Tell me when its ready." She says sharply, ignoring my comment and exiting the kitchen, probably going to shower and get that horrid scent off her clothes.

I finish making the pancakes before calling my mother into the kitchen and setting the table. "Grace." she says halfway through breakfast, making me look up from my plate.

"Did you see that somebodys moving in next door?" She asks her apperence completely different then the one i was welcomed with this morning.

Her brown hair is now tied back in a tight, smooth pony tail and she wears a white buttoned up blouse.

"Yeah, i didnt see who it was though." i shrug putting a piece of pancake in my mouth. Oh so now she wants to talk?

"Well dont be rude, why dont you go welcome them?" she prompts her tone back to being sweet and gentle.

"No it's okay, i'm sure there busy anyway." I say as an excuse when the truth is i'm just to shy.

"Suit yourself." she shrugs turning her attention back to her plate.

Neither of us make another attempt at conversation as we sit there and eat in silence.

After enduring a long silent breakfast with my mother i decide on spending the day outside. I coudn't stand staying in the house and suffering from my mothers poor attempts at conversation all day.

I clean up the kitchen and wash the few dishes i dirtied before grabbing a pair of sunglasses and heading out to the back yard.

I walk up the stone steps leading to the pool and grab the butterfly net.

Just as i'm about to start cleaning the dirt from the pool i hear a screen door screech open.

I turn in my spot to see a boy, around my age coming out of the house next door. He's tall, with brown curls tousled over his head. He wears black jeans and a white t shirt that clings tight to him, revealing large muscles on each of his arms.

Well here goes nothing.

I set the net down and walk up to the short fence separating our backyards. "You must be my new neighbour." I smile, timidly tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.

He looks up from the ground, a wide grin spreading across his face.

As he approaches me by the fence i take notice to his vibrant green eyes. "And you must be mine." he says his grin fading into a smirk as his eyes travel down my body.

His voice is deep and husky and at that moment seductive. I also take notice to the thick english accent thats laces his voice. I grow uncomfortable as his eyes rake up and down me so i cross my arms over my chest. "What.. uhm.. im sorry do you mind?" I say furrowing my eyebrows, getting bothered by the way he's looking at me.

His eyes lock with mine again and the smirk grows wider, a deep dimple indenting one side of his cheek. "Mind what?" he asks in mock innocence.

He leans his hands on the wooden fence inching his body closer to mine.

"Looking at me like that?" i say as if it was obvious. Is he unaware that he's looking at me like im dessert?

My breath hitches in my throat when his face moves closer to mine and he looks directly in my eyes.

"Sorry, couldn't help it." he shrugs.

"What-- whats your name?" I stutter when he gets so close that I can smell the sweet aroma of his cologne.

"Harry... Styles, and you?" He says raising an eyebrow a smirk still prominent on his face.

"Grace.. grace.. uh adams" i want so badly to move away but my feet are rooted to the ground.

He is handsome i will admit that.

"I like that name." he smirks wider revealing a perfect set of white teeth.

"Good to know i have your approval."i say sarcastically, tightening my arms around my chest and finally stepping back a little.

He seems amused by my comment because a deep chuckle erupts from his throat "Cheeky, i like it... Well as much as it was a pleasure grace adams, i have to get back to work." he says his eye coming down in a quick wink before he turns around and walks back into his house without a second glance.

I find myself speechless as i step away from the fence and continue to what i was previously doing.

Who does he think he is? staring at me like i'm some piece of meat? what a tool.

The way he looked at me was so distasteful; so degrading.

I dont care if he's my neighbour now, i'm definitely not making a habit of talking to him..

Helloo, okay so i just wanted to say thank you to everybody who took the time to read this chapter and i hope you enjoyed it and will continue reading :)
