The rest of the day was pretty routine. I went for a quick swim around 1:30, but not before making sure a certain new neighbour wasn't watching.
I made dinner for myself at 5 and watched as my mom left the house at 9 to go to the 'Infinity' bar down the street.
But it wasn't until this morning when I was about to make a bowl of cereal that i realized we had no food.
A deep sigh trails from my mouth as i place the box of fruit loops back into the cupboard and put the empty milk jug on the counter.
I trudge back to the living room and plop onto the couch, snatching a book from the coffee table.
As i begin reading i can see my mother come from her room and walk into the kitchen, out of the corner of my eye.
"Shit." I hear her faintly curse.
I peer up from the book when she storms into the living room, holding her hand to her forehead and carrying the bottle of advil in the other "Were out of advil." she states blankly.
"And..." i prompt.
"And we need more." she furrows her eyebrows, shaking the bottle in her right hand.
"Well fine then, you can come with me to get groceries, considering we have none." i say closing shut my book and standing from the sofa.
"Did we not just buy groceries?" she says rubbing at her forehead, trying to rid of her headache.
"Yeah.. two weeks ago."
"Fine, we'll go." she sighs, rolling her eyes like a five year old.
I swear sometimes i feel like im the mother and shes the child.
I stand from the sofa and begin making my way to the door; my mother doing the same, but we stop in our tracks when we reach the full length mirror.
I'm still dressed in my plaid pajama pants with fuzzy slippers placed snug on my feet.
My mother on the other hand has makeup smudged all around her eyes and is dressed in a mini, black cocktail dress with her brown hair in knots.
"Maybe we should clean up a little.." She suggests eyeing me through the mirror.
"I agree." We both turn to retreat back to our bedrooms.

"Lets go! you've been in there for an hour already!" i yell to my mother from down the hall, getting impatient.
"I am coming!" she says now coming into view, still buttoning up her light pink blouse. "Ok, come on, lets go." She says straightening her black pencil skirt and ushering me out the front door.
I follow behind her as we walk up to her black SUV parked in the driveway.
But just as were about to hop inside my moms eye catches on something, or rather someone. "Hello." she calls. "Oh you must be our new neighbour!" she says almost to enthusiastically
No, no, no, why did you have to do that! I internally yell at my mother.
Harry looks up from the lawn mower he was previously trying to get working and smirks. "That i am." he says dusting his hands off on his pants as he makes his way over to us.
"My name is Katherine and this here is my daughter Grace." my mother gestures to me. Harrys eyes meet mine, a condescending smirk planted on his lips. I roll my eyes and lean against the truck.
"We've already met, haven't we grace?" Harry provokes. Gosh i just want to smack that smirk off his face.
"Yeah we have." i say my voice in a monotone.
