"You're one minute late, Chae," A tiny, high-pitched voice greeted the panting girl upon entering the small, comfy cafe she worked at. In an instant, the heavenly aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sugary treats invaded Chae's senses; like a magic trick, the familiar atmosphere instantly relaxed her taut muscles.

Approaching the young girl hiding behind the staff door, Chae let out a bright smile. Surprising even herself, the raven-haired girl had discovered that she was extremely fond of children. She was particularly head over heels for the manager's six-year old daughter. There was simply something about the innocent gleam in a child's eyes that endeared Chae to no end.

"I'm sorry, Jane. It won't happen again," Chae promised as she affectionately patted the small girl's soft hair. Swinging the staff door open, Chae allowed Jane to scurry inside before she followed. She headed straight to the lockers in order to change into her work clothes: a plain brown blouse paired with black slacks. With only little Jane present in the staff room with her, Chae held no reservations about changing in broad daylight.

"Where's the manager, Jane?" The girl asked passively just as she had finished zipping up her slacks.

"Mommy's in the kitchen," Jane replied with a yawn as she clambered onto a chair. Whipping out her tablet, the little girl wasted no time to immerse herself into the world of games.

With a raised eyebrow, Chae curiously leaned over the girl's petite figure to get a glimpse of the game she was currently playing.

"What're you playing there?" The raven-haired girl asked, an inquisitive tone to her voice. The 2D figure of a boy popped on the screen, surprising Chae. It had bright red hair and leopard-print glasses.

Now that's what you call a fashion statement, the girl thought with raised brows, slightly impressed.

"It's my husband. I love you Chae but if you steal seven hundred and seven from me, I won't forgive you." A threatening edge lurked behind the sweet, innocent Jane's words, making Chae gulp in unknown fear.

She backed away from the little girl to allow her to play in peace, "Okay then, I'll be working now."

Securing the cap on her head with pins, the girl opened the staff door once more, cool air rushing past her cheeks as she headed on over to the kitchen area.

"Oh, perfect timing, Chaejin. Can you make one matcha latte for order number 8 with extra whipping cream?" The manager asked as she paced back and forth in the kitchen to pull out baked pastries from the oven.

"While you're at it, take over the counter and tell Yuna she can take a break," The manager nonchalantly spoke without so much as a glance, never faltering in her step. Chae had to admit that the manager's supreme multi-tasking skills were a sight to see. Watching the youthful mother's confident expression as she single-handedly managed the entire cafe had always inspired Chae and motivated her to work twice as hard.
