"You honestly should be nicer to your brother though..." I said as Jack held my hand. Our steps were in sync with one another. We were walking up the mountain path, towards our favorite destination.

"Why should I be nice to the person who always keeps me from kissing you?" he asked, giving me a peck on the cheek. I giggled a little bit. I squeezed his hand, rubbing my thumb across our interlocked fingers.

"I will try though..." he mumbled, looking off into the distance.

"Well, he can't interrupt us up here," I said, a smile spreading across my face.

"You're right," he smirked, "race you to the top!" and with that he took off running, knowing perfectly well there was no way I could catch up with him.

"Jack! Slow down!" I grunted, doing my best to run after him. Finally, I reached the top, but Jack stood frozen in place, with a frown on his face.

"Jack, what's wrong?" I panted, trying to figure out why his face looked so grim. He didn't answer me in words, just pointed to a figure lying in the distance.

"Oh my god... is that...?" I began, and he nodded once. Lying only a few yards away was a bloody heap of clothes, tightly sticking to a smaller body, looking about the same size as... Grayson. I gasped in shock and took off running towards my one of my best friends.

I knelt down beside him, noticing almost his entire body was bruised. I cupped my hands around his face, the blood had already dried up.

"Grayson... Grayson you in there!?" I asked frantically, starting to panic a bit. I shuddered a sob, trying to focus and bring myself together.

"Jack... Jack call 911!" I screeched, placing my hands on my face in terror. "Hang in there Grayson... help is on the way," I whispered, hoping he could hear me. To my surprise, he moaned in response. Whether he was conscious or not, I didn't care at that moment. Because that simple moan meant he was alive... Grayson was alive. I kissed his forehead, praying that he'd be okay.

"Things will get easier, I promise."
