As we were watching movies at my house, suddenly the memories came back to me.
We were sitting in my basement, surrounded by piles upon piles of Legos... that was seven years ago.
"And prepare for takeoff!" Will said through cupped hands.
I placed my hands on the lego spaceship we built, preparing the countdown.
"And 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2..... 1!" We said in unison. I shot my hands up in the air, the both of us were running around the house pretending to fly the spaceship.
"Boys! Settle down!" my mom yelled from her office. That was when my parents were home more often. That was from the time when Will would come over every other day. And even having my parents yell at us, it was better than not having them there at all.
"Wanna grab a snack?" Will would say to me when he was bored.
"Sure," I smiled, walking over to the cupboard.
"What about some goldfish?" he asked, pulling a container of them out of the shelve.
"Ooh yeah!" I responded, taking out some bowls and pouring a bunch of goldfish in each of them.
We would smile at each other, fist bump, and then go hang out on the couch, just talking and doing boy-stuff. I didn't know I was gay then, and I don't think he did either. But now we do, and 7 years later we're sitting on this same couch. Instead of fist bumping, we're holding hands. Instead of playing Legos we're watching movies. Just us, together, and everything's okay.

I leaned down to kiss her.
"Goodbye my beautiful Lily," I whispered in her ear.
"Jack, don't go..." she said, pulling on my shirt. I loved it when she did that.
"I wish I could stay, but there's school tomorrow..." I sighed, leaning my forehead against hers.
"That doesn't matter, you can still stay longer," she complained, pulling on my shirt again. I chuckled.
"I have a test tomorrow though, and I gotta study still," I reasoned, not to mention the fact that it was already 11:00 at night.
"I'll help you study!"
Once she said it, I knew I'd prefer her with me. That little puppy dog face just went way over the top for me. I gave in, and I knew I'd be paying for it in the morning. But, to be fair, when I'm with Lily? It's almost always worth it.
"Okay... fine," I smiled as she let go of my shirt, closing the door and holding my hand as we walked to her couch. She sat down on my lap, stretching her legs across the couch.
"So what's this test on?" she asked, raising an eyebrow and look irresistibly cute.
"It's just social studies, I have to label a bunch of countries."
"Alright..." she pulled up a blank map of the world on her phone. "Where is Bolivia?" she asked.
"Err..." I racked my brain trying to remember where it was. I'd never been very good with countries because my family hardly ever traveled. "I think it's there," I said, pointing towards the middle of South America.
"Good job!" she smiled, thinking of the next country.
"Where is Mongolia?"
Again, I pointed to a spot on the map. Every time I got a question right, she would plant a kiss on my cheek. This was the best way to study ever. We continued for a while until she'd said about 1/2 of the countries on the map. Then the phone dropped out of her hands and I looked up to see why. She was asleep.
I chuckled to myself, wrapping my arms around her waist and legs to carry her upstairs. Thankfully, she wasn't terribly heavy. I sighed, laying her down on her bed, tucking the covers up to her chin.
"Goodnight princess..." I mumbled, kissing her once more before heading out and down the stairs. She truly was my princess, and I hoped someday she'd be my queen. Because everything she did just made me happier, how can everything a person does look so cute? I didn't know how, but she always managed to pull it off, even when she's upset. I hope I get to keep her because she definitely is the one I've been waiting for.
