I ran. I ran for my life with the only things I had left in my right hand; a stolen necklace, a knife, and a gun loaded with six silver bullets. I frantically hopped over fallen logs, and branches as the wind blew harshly in my face. I heard the distant howls in the background, and the desperate panting from behind me.
“Is that the best you got?!” I yelled to the wind as I pumped my arms harder.
Challenging me, I heard loud howls to my right and left. SH*T I was surrounded. I saw the blurs of brown and black bodies narrowing in on me as I sprinted straight ahead. Not wanting to slow down, I just focused on the bright opening of the forest where my car was located. I specifically parked in the middle of the town, where humans roamed. I knew the werewolves won’t chase me there, and my car could probably get me out of there faster. I saw a brown werewolf come my way, so I grabbed my gun and fired. Hearing a whimper, I saw the wolf go down. Then to my right I saw a black werewolf launch his body towards me, so I shot once, but the dog dodged. I shot twice and finally hit his back causing him to howl and crumble to the floor.
“You pathetic hounds think you can outsmart me!” I laughed as I saw my black car come into view, and I sprinted faster. I felt my breathing starting to falter and my legs starting to give out.
“Come on. Stay with me Kayla! Come on!” I desperately swung open the car door, and pushed the start to go. Hearing the roar of my engine, I pressed the gas creating dust to fly from behind as I drove away. However, not before I rolled down the window to flip off the werewolves howling in the forest behind me.
“Once again you succeeded.” I smirked as I gripped the necklace tight in my hands. I felt the smooth surface of the diamond, and the rigged trim of gold around the gem. The diamond twinkled in the light as I dangled it on my index finger to observe it some more.
This necklace belonged to the Luna of Half Moon Pack, which was the second strongest pack in the world. I was pretty proud of myself right now. You see, I am the best hunter in the whole world. No one can catch me, no one can kill me, and no one can beat me. I am the Kayla Chayse. My job as a hunter is to kill every Luna in every strong pack to weaken the Alpha. Every kill, I take a small possession from them to prove to them that I won and not them. Once the Alpha is weak, then the whole pack is weak and vulnerable. This made the job of killing the members easier for my fellow hunters. I have the most difficult job since I have to find the Luna and get passed all the guards. To be honest, I think the job is too easy. Smirking, I chucked the necklace into the cup holder and drove to my next destination.
