Aphmau

"Liochant, would you mind passing me the telescope?" I ask benevolently as he walks up from behind me, gently placing it in my hands. "Thank you." I grin, looking into it, no islands for miles. My grin flips upside down, fear flooding through me.

"What is it Lady Aphmau?" I spot Garroth walking closer to us, returning from the stern. I take a couple of deep breaths, regaining my composure. "Our course has been changed, and by the look of the sky I don't think we'll make it to our destination until nightfall." I gesture towards the dark, gloomy clouds, and Garroth nods.

"Yes I see, I'll go check up on Lilith and Alina." I watch him reatreat back down into the ship, and Liochant grabs my shoulder. "Everything is going to be okay Lady Aphmau." I nod, taking my attention back to the harsh waters. I really hope he's right.

Soon after that, I hear childish screams come from the lower part of the ship, and both Alina and Lilith hide behind me. "Uncle Garroth is trying to eat us!" Alina screeches, shoving her head into my leg. I lightly laugh, and Lilith cowers behind her younger sister.

Garroth comes back up, smiling sheepishly. Liochant barks out a chorus of laughs, and Garroth playfully rolls his eyes. Just then Alina and Lilith tackle him, which sends him tumbling to the floor. "You.. guys are.. strong." He breathes out as they sit on his stomach and chest.

Just then thunder erupts from the sky, and the ship rocks violently. Garroth wraps his arms protectively around the kids, and Liochant runs to the front of the ship. Katelyn then comes stumbling out of the Captain's Quarters, wearing one of Travis's large shirts that drowns her.

"What is happening?!" She screams, and seconds later it starts to pour rain. Katelyn runs to the side of the ship, probably to puke, and we all run back to the Captain's Quarters. Soaking wet, I wrap a blanket around my kids, and Garroth pulls me aside away from everyone.

"A-Aphmau... This has happened to us before.. remember? We need to all stay together. We don't need another setback." His words are barely audible, and he yells over the shrieks of thunder. I just nod, wanting everyone to be safe. I can't lose anyone else I love. The loss of Aaron... Was already too much to bare.

I wrap my arms around Garroth, my chest heaving up and down. I really don't want to break down right now. We need someone to stay strong. That's when Alina wraps her arms around mine and Garroth's legs.

"Mommy?"

She catches my attention instantly, despite the crashing of waves and beating of intense thunder. "Yes Alina?" I ask, wiping my face as Garroth watches us carefully. She doesn't say anything, simply turning around and pointing at the mess she made in the simple ten seconds she and Lilith had to make a mess.

Anger and stress cross over my face, and she doesn't fail to notice it. "I love you Mommy!" She jumps at me, hugging my legs while squishing her head into my side.

That's what makes me stay calm.

I pick her up, and she nuzzles her head into the crook of my neck. That's when things take a turn... Quite literally. Dante comes running in, shaking violently. Travis is in the corner with Katelyn wrapped up in his arms. Garroth, Laurance, and Lilith are suddenly bundled up in blankets in the back part of the room.
