Aphmau

I paced silently up and down the grassy field for hours, watching slowly as some of my friends were taken away by the so called Legionnaires. I had no idea what to do. Reeking of body odor and tears, I was starting to become insecure.

I soon started shaking, and I decided to take a stroll through the forest. Honestly, I needed to take a break away from everything. I'm soon acquainted with darkness, and a slow chill crawls up my spine. Looking around frantically, I realize I've already lost my recent path.

Oh great, I've become lost in the forest on a spoopy island.

Moments later, I hear the shrieks of thunder, and lightning flashes across the dreary skies. I involuntary scream, taking deep breaths while running around in circles. Well that's nice, I've also become a psychopath.

The thunder continues, and I hear the crunching of leaves surround me. I lean my body against the closest tree, ignoring the pain of bark as it scrapes against my flesh. I try to breathe quieter, covering my mouth with my right hand whilst my other holds a weapon.

More snapping of twigs. I close my eyes, trying to calm myself down so I'm not entirely hopeless. The sound of the wolves' low growls is what makes my eyes snap open immediately. Glancing around, I see five wolves about twenty yards away from me.

Cursing lightly under my breath, I try not to make any movement. Oh please just keep going. Right when they're about to go out of sight, the largest wolf in the back snaps its head straight in my direction. It's eyes seem to darken and it makes its way slowly towards me. I have a weapon, I shouldn't be scared.

Before I have time to run, the wolf lunges at me. It clawed across my back, leaving hideous wounds. Suddenly fatigued, I slash at it with my sword. My weak attempts do no harm to the beast. I lean all of my body weight onto the tree, holding up Aaron's sword to protect me. Soon enough, the other wolves make their way towards the fight, and I'm outnumbered.

They make a semicircle around me, clashing their teeth as they wait for their leader to attack first. The biggest one simply stares, it's dark blue eyes gazing into my soul. They all clash their teeth, and I fight every fiber in my body to stay conscious.

Soon enough, these monsters will become impatient and just eat or kill me as they wish. I should've stayed back at camp. Right before the small group of wolves attack me, a flash of blue hair comes into view.

Dante.

I'm afraid he doesn't have a weapon though. He yells loudly, creating a distraction as I go wide eyed. No no no, please no. Tell me this is not a suicide mission just to save me. I don't deserve it. Their attention flickers to Dante, and he runs off sprinting into the forest with the pack of wolves chasing after him.

My body screams at me to do something, and I turn around. About one hundred yards away I see a small flame. A campfire. I don't smile, I simply realize that I was too idiotic to look behind me. Dante and Liochant sacrificed themselves just to save me. What kind of Lord can't even protect their own people?

Pathetic, that's what I am.

Slouching back to camp, my back burns from the claw marks. "Aphmau!" A handful of voices shout at the sight of my brokeness. Pointing back to the forest, I let out one final word before falling into a deep slumber.

"D-Dante..."

Laurance

It was three days after the incident. Aphmau still hasn't woken up, and Dante is yet to be found.

I didn't know what to do. It seemed as though everyone turned to me for guidance, considering both Garroth and Dante are gone. I had no experience of being a leader, so being the stupid person I was, I turned to the Legionnaires for help. I did notice the amount of arguing they were doing, though.

And that's how I ended up here, sitting next to Aphmau's bed, waiting for the moment when her eyes flutter open. I continuously look at her body from head to toe, simply admiring how beautiful a woman can be. But no, she gave her heart to Aaron. It would be selfish of me to try and win her heart after what pain she's been through.

After about the thirtieth time scanning her, my eyes rest on her face.

"Stop staring at her ya creep." Katelyn's voice breaks into my thoughts, and I fall out of the wooden chair. She chuckles, and I stand up while dusting myself off. Despite my red face and ears, I'd hardly say I was embarrassed.

"Pfft, I wasn't staring." I reply cooly, attempting to cover up what just happened. She laughs again, and I give her a blank look. She subtly makes her way closer to the bed, and her hand rests at the bottom. Aphmau being so short, Katelyn's hand is nowhere near her.

"We need to leave this island." Despite the long amount of silence, Katelyn speaks up. I nod, not knowing how to respond to such a blunt plan. I crack my knuckles, not knowing what to do as tension looms through the air.

Seconds later, Aphmau bolts, sitting upright while taking deep breaths.

"He's still alive."
