Chapter 16-Malachi
After dropping Audrey off, Brooklyn texts me asking if I could come over tonight. I told her I couldn't but tomorrow I would. I really regret having sex with her because now she won't let me go. For me it was just sex but for her apparently it was something more. I really like Audrey, and I don't want to do anything to jeopardize our new found relationship, so I have to stop messing around with girls. I'm not happy that my body count is high, and I know she has never had sex before. That's the only downfall about falling in love with your best friend, they know all about your past. Speaking of the past, I need put the drug game in my past because I know my relationship with Audrey will fail if she finds out about this side of my life.
As soon as I get home I get a text from Deon telling me to stop by the trap house because the boss has called a meeting. I don't really feel like dealing with this, but I know there would be serious repercussions if I don't. After changing into a pair of Levi jeans and a Polo shirt I head back out. Only a few more months and I'll be done with this life. I pray every night that I don't get caught and sent to jail, or end up six feet under. I'm not like some of these other dudes out here wanting to get rich quick. For some this is their dream, they want to be some kingpin or drug lord. That's just not me, I wasn't raised this way and I know it would just break my parents heart to know about the lifestyle I'm living.
I walk into the trap house and take a seat next to Deon. "What'd I miss?" I say to him. "Boss was talking about moving into the Latino Blood territory tomorrow night," he says. I sit and listen to the plan that the boss has. This is something I really don't want to do. I need to figure out how to get out of this fast. There's too many risks involved with this plan. Not to mention the retaliation that's going to come from the LB's for taking over. I figured I could get out of doing this for the next few weeks if I make the next few drug runs. I have a feeling in my gut that this plan is going to end up in a lot of bloodshed and I refuse for my blood to be a part of it. When the meeting is over I go up to my boss, and tell him that instead of being involved in taking over the territory I'd do a few runs. Surprisingly he just nods his heads and agrees with me. I was surprised it was that easy. Now if only I could get him to agree to let me out of the game.
Chapter 17-Audrey
I can't believe Chelsea really convinced me to spy on Brooklyn and Malachi later on today. I don't even know where they will be at. I just hope that they're not meeting up at her house because I worry that he will go back to his old ways of sleeping with any girl he makes eye contact with. What am I talking about? I'm not even sure they slept together, I'm just being paranoid. I don't think he would have sex with a girl and then try to start a relationship with me. I know him, and he's better than that.
"Has she tweeted anything yet?" I ask Chelsea as we sit in her car.
"Yeah. She just tweeted that she's on her way to Outback Steakhouse to meet with him."
"I can't believe he's going out to eat with her. I hope their just friends," I say letting my voice drop.
"I'm sure from his side its an innocent friendship, but I bet she wants something more," Chelsea says.
"But what if they're more than that? What do I do then? I'm not ready to lose my friendship after so many years and a relationship that has barely started," I say starting to really get worried.
"Well then you have to decide what you truly want. If they had something in the past, you have to trust him enough to believe he left it there," Chelsea says as well pull off to go to the restaurant. When we get there I scan the parking lot for Malachi's car and as I do I notice he pulls in and parks. "We should probably wait until he walks in before we follow him," Chelsea says. When we walk in we notice where there sitting and ask for a booth in the back corner by their table but far enough were they won't notice us. I just hope we can hear their conversation even though there are not a lot of people in the restaurant.
After the waiter takes our order I try to listen to their conversation. I pick up on little words and my name a couple of times, but I can't make out their whole conversation. Our waiter comes back with our food, and after awhile I give up on my failed attempts to eavesdrop on their conversation and focus on my food. I've decided to just leave the situation alone and trust Malachi to tell me if there was anything that went on between them. After the waiter brings our bill we hear a loud outburst.
"Fuck you Malachi! Don't think you can just have sex with me and be done, it doesn't work like that," Brooklyn says as she storms out of the restaurant. What do I do now that I know that they had sex? It's not something I can just ignore but exactly how do I bring it up to him? Maybe it was a long time ago and I don't have anything to worry about. I turn back to Chelsea and she's looking at me with sad eyes. "Obviously he was trying to end it with her, so don't stress over it," says reaching for my hand. She's right, and knowing that makes me feel a little better.
Chapter 18-Malachi
Lunch with Brooke didn't go as planned at all. I was really trying to let her down by telling her we could have had something if I didn't start getting feelings for Audrey. But that just seemed to make her even more mad. She start calling Audrey all kind of names which made me mad. Finally I told her the truth that I would never be with someone who fucks complete strangers at parties and that really pissed her off. She end up storming out of the restaurant after yelling I can't just have sex with her and be done. I swear that bitch is crazy. I just really hope this doesn't get back to Audrey because it could ruin us before we really even start our relationship.
I get a call from Jerome telling me to come to the trap house to pick up a shipment that needs to go to the warehouse. I hate going to the trap because a lot of times there's junkies there begging for a hit, and I'm not the mood for that. I really just want to go home but I don't see that happening anytime soon. I walk into the house and see Jerome first. " Wassup," I say giving him a head nod. He walks me into the back room where three boxes are that hold the cocaine. "I heard you got out of taking over the LB's territory," he says putting the last box in my car. "Yeah. You know this life ain't for me, I don't thrive off of this like the rest of y'all," I say closing the trunk of my car. He just nods his head in agreement before walking off.
I get into the car and right before I pull off I see this lady, who looks pretty, but I know she's a junkie so her good looks won't last long. She's tall with long red hair and pale skin covered in freckles. She turns a little more towards the car and I recognize her. That's Audrey's mom. I knew her mom was back on drugs again, but I didn't expect her to be hanging around the trap. I was hoping she was in rehab getting her life together. Most of the time junkies who hang around the trap stay junkies for the rest of their lives. I feel like I should tell Audrey, but how would I do that without revealing my other life.
I pull off quickly hoping that her mom didn't recognize me. I couple minutes later, a cop car turns behind me. Fuck! I hope they don't pull me over, because if they decide to search the car then all my secrets will be out. No sooner than I think that, the cop flashes his lights. I pull over to the side of the rode and get my license and registration out. As the officer comes up to my car I roll down my window. "License and registration please. Son, did you know you were going 40 mph in a 25 mph zone," he says.
"Sorry sir, I wasn't aware," I say trying to be as respectful as possible to defuse any problems.
"Malachi? You're the Andrew's boy aren't you?" He says.
"Yes sir. Officer Daley?" I ask. He works with my parents a lot and I've seen him at dinner parties a few times.
"I know you're a good guy, so I'll let you off with a warning," he says before handing me my papers and telling me to have a good day. That was a close one, I just need to get to the warehouse safely before I can breathe easy.
