Hattington Middle School, this is the name of my new school in Austin, Texas, and the place I am now walking to.
Hi, my name is Lyric Miller. Yes I know, my first name is strange but hey, I like it. I'm a 13 year old girl who just moved from Ohio to Texas because of my dad's job. He's a car dealer and was recently transferred to a branch down in Texas. I was sad to leave, but I understood that I had to go. I'm not one of those teenagers that are like "we're only moving because you want to destroy my life" or crap.
I'm coming in during the middle of the year though, which I thought was kinda stupid. My mom suggested we stay until the end of the school year when I went into high school, but we had to leave asap. I was sad to have to leave my old school and my friends, but as I walk to my new school, I get even more excited about meeting the people here.
As I walked into the school, I realized I was a bit early. Not many people were in the hallway, but the boy and the girl that were there saw me and they walked up to me.
They were both taller than me, the girl by a little, the boy by half a foot. The girl had long, brown hair, down to her lower back. She had hazel eyes that looked friendly and had really pretty make-up on. The boy had shaggy hair that was brown. He had brown eyes, but they looked just as friendly.
"Would you happen to be the new transfer student?" The boy asked, speaking in a voice that seemed unreal. It was deep, but if someone asked me to describe it, I probably couldn't.
"Yes, why?" I asked them shyly. I was excited to meet new people, but I am a shy person to new people.
"Well, we were chosen by our teachers to show the new student around the school." The girl stated, also talking in a friendly tone.
"That was nice of the teachers, so what are your guys names?" I asked trying to start a conversation.
"My name is Ian, and here is Anna." Ian said gesturing to himself then Anna, "what's your name?"
I hesitated for a second. I mean, I like my name, but sometimes other people think it's a strange name and they call me something else. That's what most people did at my old school. But I decided to say it, because that would show if they could be true friends.
"My name is Lyric, Lyric Miller." I said hesitantly.
"That's a cool name! I wish my name could be Lyric!" Anna said, shouting slightly.
I looked at her, blushing slightly. I'm not good with receiving compliments because I get flustered and stuff.
"Thanks, nobody's ever said that to me before." I spoke in a small voice, almost like trying to hide myself.
"Really?" Ian started, "because that's a really nice name." He gave me a heartwarming smile.
I looked at both of the people in front of me. I think I just made two new friends.
"Should we get going?" I questioned as I looked at the time on my phone. It was still early, but I wanted to see where all of my classes were gonna be.
"Oh crap, we should." Anna said in a panicky voice. "Let's go to the office to get your schedule. We can't show you your classes without your schedule."
"Ok then, let's go!" I said in more cheerful, confident voice.

After getting my schedule from the secretary, Ian and Anna showed me my classes first, then sense we had time left, the rest of the school. During the tour, I learned more about the two. They were really nice people and I was excited to get to know them more. As we were walking to class, I had to ask something that was bothering me about my schedule.
