'Rose, get up belle. ' I heard nana call to wake me up. 'Five more minutes nana. ' I mumbled on to my pillow and when I was about to fall into a sweet slumber I felt a weight on my back.
'Umph. Lina get off of me. ' Stellina is my 3 year old little sister who loves to torture me as much as she can.
'ROSE. STOP SLEEPING AND GET UP. ITS TIME FOR SCHOOL.' Lina yelled at the top of her lungs. What she said reminded me that it was Monday and our first day of school in here.
I was wide awake now. The memories of the past few days hit me like a tornado. I sighed and sat on my bed. I forced a smile on my face and kissed Lina's forehead and told her to go down while I got ready.
It was 7:50 am so I had an hour to get ready. I took a warm shower and as the water engulfed me in the warmth I tried to relax as much as I could. After staying there for a good while I came out and got ready for school.
I wore a light teal colored shirt with dark blue denims with some converse. I took my bag and went downstairs where my whole family was having breakfast. My mother was making waffles for me while dad was reading the paper and Lina was enjoying her waffles oblivious to her surrounding.
I came up from behind her and started tickling her, she squealed and told me to stop. I stopped and went to give dad a hug after that I went to mom gave her a hug and then started with my breakfast.
'Alright rose, you know what you have to do right? ' My dad asked me. I nodded and continued eating my breakfast. He sighed and looked down. I didn't blame him for anything that happened but whatever happened affected my childhood and I grew up having a non existent childhood.
I finished breakfast and went out with Lina after saying bye to our parents and nana so that I could drop her off to kindergarten before I go to school. On the way I explained to Lina about our usual protocol we follow whenever we moved.
We had to change our names and I made sure she knew that when anyone asked her name she was supposed to them that it is Carlla. She never questioned why we made different names whenever we moved and I wanted it to be this way. I didn't know what or how to answer her if she did ask.
I kissed her cheek and said goodbye to her and waited in the car until I made sure she was inside the school doors. After I made sure of that I drove off to the high school I will go until I graduate hopefully. I parked in an empty spot and walked into campus.
There were a lot of people going about minding their own businesses and a lot of people talking to their friends. Probably sharing what they did in the holidays. I went in and found the office to collect my class timetable and locker code.
There was no one in the office to be seen so I said hello to see if anyone was there. A red haired woman popped out from under the desk. She had her hair in a bun and had huge glasses sat on the bridge of her nose and had braces on. 'Well hello. Sorry. The stapler fell. How can I help you today? ' She asked me. 'Hi, I'm new here so i came to get my timetable and the locker code.'
'Ah yes. Amberly right?' She asked. I was almost going to say no and tell her my name but then I remembered that this was going to be the name everyone is going to know me for. 'Yes that would be me.' I said nervously but hopefully she didn't catch on it.
She handed me the timetable and then a piece of paper which had the code written on it. 'I'm Kinsley by the way. We have some classes together. Is it okay if I sit next to you. I'm not that welcome here.' She confessed in a small voice. I was more than happy to be friends with her. She seemed like a great person and she looks as if she has a whole new person under those glasses and braces. She could easily pass as a model if she didn't wear them.
I told her I would be glad to sit next to her and she squealed with delight. I went out of the office in hopes of finding my class. I had English first and it was in class 10A.
I finally found the class and went inside. Luckily I was five minutes early so the teacher wasn't here and I could hide away in the corner with being noticed.
I took a seat in the far corner where I was hidden and where I could see and hear the teacher. It was also near the window so it was just the spot I wanted. While I waited for the teacher I looked out of the window reminding myself to lay low and to not get noticed by anyone. After a while I heard the bell and everyone ran to take their seats and not long after the teacher came in.
'Good morning everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday. But unfortunately the usual homeworks and 'hell' you guys like to call starts from today.' Everyone was snickering and groaning at the mention of homeworks. 'Well I have been informed that we have a new student with us. Would she please get up and introduce herself to the class.' No, I thought but my body acted differently and I got up from my place. All the eyes were now on me staring at me expectantly. 'Hello,my name is Amberly and I am from Italy.' That's all I said. I didn't know what else to say and I guess the teacher caught on that.
'Well hello Amberly. I hope you're not like the lazy people and will finish the homeworks and get good marks in the exams. I'm Mr. Marcus as everyone calls me. I hope we can go through this year together without trying to kill each other.' He had a very bad sense of humor but he was that laid back teacher as seen from his behavior. 'You can sit down now, and everyone, take out your book we're gonna learn some new stuff.'
I sat down and took my notebook and the started taking notes. While I was doing that I felt like someone was watching me. I lifeted my head and turned around the room to see if anyone was watching me but everyone was busy taking down notes sir was giving. I also went back to writing but I still felt eyes so I looked out of the window, and there, I saw a person staring at me. Not breaking the eye contact even after seeing that I caught him. I couldn't see him clearly but after staring for a minute longer he walked away. I also looked at my book and thought about what just happened.
All sorts of negative stuff was going on in my head but I pushed them all aside and continued to listen to Mr. Marcus and kept on taking notes. This is going to be one long day, I sighed to myself.
