Abby's POV
As I was walking down the hall towards the main office, all I could think about was Stiles. He is really cute and nice. A guy like him must have a girlfriend. I found the main office and went inside. "Hello, what can I do for you?" said a middle aged woman from behind the front desk. "Hi I'm Abigail Bennett and I'm new here," I said in a friendly manner.
"Okay hold on for just a moment," she said typing on her computer. She got up from her chair and went to the printer that was behind her. She came back with several pieces of paper in her hands. "Here you go sweetie, this is your class schedule, a map of the school, and your locker combination. Welcome to Beacon Hills and enjoy your first day," she said smiling as she handed me the papers. I thanked her, took the papers from her hands, and then left the main office. As I was walking down the hallway to my first period someone bumped into me, causing me the drop my papers. Not again.
"I'm sorry," he said as he got down on one knee to pick up the fallen papers and then stood up.
"It's okay, it was an accident," I said as he handed me my papers.
"Abby?"
I looked up and saw it was Stiles who bumped into me. "Oh hey, Stiles right?"
"Yeah, uh, sorry I bumped into you...again," he said laughing a little and I just smiled. "It's okay no blood, no foul."
The bell rang, signaling out first period of the day. "Do you need help finding your class?" Stiles asked me. "No I got it, but thank you," I said smiling. "I'll see you later."
"Yeah, I'll uh, I'll see you later," he said with a hint of sadness in his voice as he walked away. I instantly felt bad. I have nothing against him, I just don't want any friends right now. I prefer to stay alone, away from everyone else. I can't get close to anyone else. I wouldn't be able to handle the pain if I ever lost them. It's selfish, but this is the only way to prevent from getting hurt. I headed towards my first period which is Chemistry. Oh joy, note the sarcasm.

Finally, the dreadful first day was over. It wasn't that bad, but it was long. Stiles introduced me to his best friend Scott McCall. They were talking about how Scott has a crush on a girl named Allison. Apparently she's new here too. Yay! Now, she could draw some attention away from me. I don't like being called "the new girl" It's really annoying.
Anyways, I'm currently in my room changing into a white sports bra and gray cropped leggings. I put on my armband around my upper right arm and placed my iPod in. I needed some fresh air, and the scenery here is beautiful. I forgot how beautiful Beacon Hills is. I did live here before, but out of nowhere when I was nine my family and I moved to Pennsylvania for some reason. The woods in the Beacon Hills Preserve especially is beautiful, which is were I'm going out to run. Running helps me clear my mind and escape the world. God I sound so antisocial, oh well. I put on my white and gray Nike running shoes and went downstairs. I wrote Rosie and Jay a note telling them that I was out running and not to worry since they weren't home. I tied my hair into a messy pony tail and took a deep breath. I went outside and locked the door, plugged in my earphones, pressed play on my iPod, and just started running. The breeze felt amazing on my face.
After twenty minutes of running, I stopped to catch my breath. I looked around and admired the beautiful trees around me. It's so peaceful here, but I sense something wrong. Very wrong. It's as if something horrible happened here, but I can't explain it. I turned off the music, took of my earphones, and hung them around my neck. I began to walk around and enjoy the familiar woods. I spent a lot of time here when I was a kid. Playing tag and hide and seek with my friends. I stopped dead in my tracks and gasped as I saw the Hale house, or what was left of it, in front of me. It looked like someone had set fire to it. Tears started to form in my eyes. I looked away not being able to handle the sight in front of me.
I worked up the nerve and walked up the steps to the porch. I placed my hand on one of the pillars and closed my eyes. I suddenly saw the house on fire and there were people's hands trying to escaped from the basement but couldn't. They were trapped. Their screams were filled with fear and sorrow. As their screams got louder and louder I shut my eyes tighter and tighter. What's happening? I let go of the pillar and the awful vision disappeared. Frightened, I quickly went down the porch and stood where I was before. I looked down at both of my hands, What the hell just happened?
I heard a twig snap from behind me. I quickly spun around and gasped as I came face to face, well more like chest to chest, with a man. He had greenish hazel eyes, black hair, a strong jaw with slight stubble on it, and big shoulders. I slightly stepped back, his eyes look so familiar. Why does everyone look so familiar?
"What are you doing here? This is private property."
"I'm sorry, I was out here jogging and-" Then realization hit me. I looked him in the eyes and quietly said, "Der?"
He looked at me with wide eyes and said, "Abby?"
"Oh my god, it's you!" I said crying out of happiness. I wrapped my arms around his waist as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders. I can't believe it's him. I haven't seen him since I moved. Him, Cora, and Laura were the best of friends. They were always there for me whenever I needed them and vice versa. I buried my face in his chest and sobbed uncontrollably. He layed his cheek on top of my head and held me tight. After a minute or two I finally calmed down. I pulled back sniffling and wiping the tears from my cheeks. "I'm sorry, I got your shirt wet."
"It's just a shirt," he said still looking at me and I smiled. "When did you come back to Beacon Hills?"
"About a week ago," I answered. "Derek, what happened to the house?"
As soon as I asked, his eyes immediately filled with pain, sorrow, and anger. He opened his mouth to answer, but immediately closed it. I heard him lowly growl. "Derek, are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'll tell you later. Here you must be freezing," he said taking off his leather jacket and placed it around me. I didn't realize I was freezing until he pointed it out. I thanked him and put my arms through the arm holes. "Come on, I hear a nuisance."
"Okay" I said confused. I didn't hear anything. We walked back into the woods and I saw two vaguely familiar guys looking for something. They looked up as they heard us walking towards them.
"What are you doing here? Huh? This is private property," said a very angry Derek as I stood awkwardly behind him. Whoa, déjà vu.
"Uh, sorry man, we didn't know," one of the guy's said. Wait a minute, I know that voice. I stepped in front of Derek and saw it was Scott and Stiles.
"Hey guys," I said to them and they looked at me with wide eyes.
"Abby! What are you doing here?" They asked surprised in unison.
"I could ask you guys the same thing," I said while stuffing my hands in Derek's jacket. I felt something in the pocket, like an inhaler.
"We were just looking for something, but forget it," Scott said as he was about to leave. He gave me this look as if I did something bad. Geez what's his problem?
"Would it happen to be an inhaler you're looking for?" I asked taking a stepping forward.
"Yeah, why?" he asked kind of harshly as I pulled the inhaler from the pocket and tossed it to him and he caught it with ease.
"I'll see you guys at school," I said in an emotionless tone and with that I walked away back to the Hale house. "Come on, I'll drive you back to your house," Derek said appearing next to me. Why did Scott look at me like that? Why did I see hurt in Stiles' eyes? What did I do wrong? Why do I even care? It's not like I wanted to be their friend or anything...or do I?
Ugh so many questions, very few answers.
