I almost expected him to freak out like Dren did the first time I took him to my parents house but he was as cool as a cucumber when he shrugged and said, "Oh. Okay." I shrugged in reply, not knowing what else to say and we stood there together in silence the rest of the bus ride.

I thanked Jeffery as we got off of the bus by signing to him and he signed you're welcome back to me. Jeffery is deaf. So when I first met him and we both knew how to sign, we hit it off really well. He's got a great personality too but he's in his fifties so don't get any ideas.

Stepping into the cool, crisp air, I inhaled a huge breath through my nose and smelled the familiar scent of trees, trees, and more trees. A huge grin spread across my face as I recognized the the familiar blue Mazda CX-9.

I made a mad dash to it and pounded on the window. They rolled down to reveal my older brother, Kyle. "Hey lil' sis. How's city life treating you?" I put a thumbs up and he chuckled replying, "Oh right. I forgot you're a mute now. I'm sorry about what happened. It's all my fault."

I shook my head in disagreement. Kyle thinks it's his fault that I'm a mute now. It's not like that at all. What really happened is-

"Ninel, who's the weird, sketchy guy behind you?" Kyle questions, interrupting my thoughts. I turned around and was met with Damian's confused face.

"Treble, who's the guy that kind of looks like green haired Jacksepticeye?" Damian interrogates. It's true. Kyle does look like some sort of twin of Jacksepticeye with his baby face, sky blue eyes, and partly green hair. Technically, the only thing missing is the adorable Irish accent and personality.

"I'm her brother and you are?" Kyle challenges, becoming the protective older brother that he is.

"My name is Damian Nobile. I'm her new neighbor and soon-to-be-boyfriend." I face palmed myself. He laughs. "Just joking Treble. I'm her guy friend that has a huge crush on her." Damian says with finality. Great. And now Kyle says,

"If you can beat me in a sparing match, you can date her." Kyle taunts.

"Deal." Damian agrees. This is the normal routine whenever a guy comes with me to my Parents' house.

'When can we go home? I promised dad I'd help harvest the crops and promised mum I'd help take care of the animals.' I sign to Kyle, hoping to speed things up.

"Sure. Anything for my princess. Hop in guys."

I blush at the nickname. When I was younger, I had the cliché dream for every girl: to be a princess. When we were younger, I'd always convince Kyle and my parents to play royalty with me. Obviously with my role being princess, my dad as the king, mum as queen (and she slayed), and Kyle was the prince.

I haven't given up on my childhood dream either. It was just on pause. When I get married, I will officially be named queen and I've been looking forward to that title for so long because just like in chess, a King is powerless without his Queen. So technically the Queen is the most powerful since she distributes power out.

Suddenly warmth spread from my hand, up my arm and I snapped my head to Damian. He had his hand over mine and was looking casually out of the window.

"Hey! No PDA in my car!" Kyle yelled from the front seat. I went to remove my hand, but Damian held on tighter.

"Why shouldn't we hold hands?" We're friends after all. Besides, I'm gonna win that fight." Damian retorts smugly.
