We used to talk

Just you and I

About gems, stories, adventures.

We were close

Just you and I

As Icarus was close to the sun.

Months have passed 

Our moments now

Wisps of cherished memories

I see you

And you see me

But we have never been farther apart.

You have surrounded yourself

With strong diamonds

You have their backs

And they have yours

And so I watch from the shadows

My own jewels around me

While we may not talk like we used to

Or exchange stories and sagas

I watch from the shadows

A smile upon my face

For you have found happiness

And as have I
