It was the start of the summer of 2013. I was in the car with my dad driving over to the town center. My older sister Ally had just moved out. She made a run for it as soon as her school year ended. That lucky bastard.
I constantly wished to abandon this town. I lived here my whole life and never liked it one bit.
I swung open the car door and laid my black vans on the newly paved road.
I was wearing jean shorts, a cheap tee, and a zip up hoodie.
My dad walked beside me as we explored the beautiful, new, side of town. "You like it?" he asked as he rested a hand on my shoulder.
I nodded. "But I don't want you walking home. Dad it's not that far I know, but is it necessary?"
"For the good of the environment."
"Ah shut it. You could care less."
"Fine I'm saving gas money. I have to go to the Wondell Building, its where I'll be working. Why don't you take the tour, while I'm there."
He led me to the large glass doors of the building and told me to wait for a guide, and so the wait began.
After a while, two guys walked up, wearing Kaki shorts and a dark blue polo, which read Wondell in cursive letters.
One of them was tall and broad. His green eyes flashed to mine as he brushed back his curls with his large hands. I made I clear that I noticed him looking, which caused him to stare down at his shoes as he blushed.
The other was irrelevant. I gave no fucks for him. My pupils continued to involentarrily follow him, as he approached me.
"Welcome to Wondell!" the other one said in a sarcastic tone, "I'm Jimmy."
Jimmy looked over to him and waited for him to talk.
"I'm Harry, " he said quietly.
"And you are?" Jimmy asked with a condescending tone.
"Quinn." I said as my eyes locked with Harry's.
"I'll take her. Go on a lunch break," He said as he tapped his foot impatiently.
Jimmy nodded and walked off. I stood there quietly facing Harry awaiting a time where he'd speak.
"So," he said as scratched the back of his neck and lifted his head up. He walked to the door and held it open. "Come on, I don't bite." he said with a childish grin.
I walked past him into the well decorated lobby of the building. "Thanks," I sad quietly.
He guided me down the hall and stopped, turning around to face me. "So what drove you to come here,"
"My dad... literally."
"He works here?"
"Yep. He said I should kill some time."
"Well, how about me and you go kill some time someplace else. Honestly, the tour is incredibly boring."
"I believe you," I said as I let out a slight laugh.
"So, is that a yes?"
I shrugged and walked beside him, as we exited the building. "Where are we gonna go?"
"The park maybe? It's brand new. A block or so away."
"Okay." I said hesitantly. I had no idea who this Harry guy is, and who knew what his intentions could've been. Aside from all of that, something in my heart told me to go.
I stumbled off to the side. "This way," he said as he chuckled and put his hand on my back.
We got to the park and it was lined with yellow tape.
