(16) Sunset

Mitsuko POV

"What?" she said.

"I...I..."

She patted me on the back and made me sit down on a mat and she did the same. She sighed before getting up and coming back with tea for me and her.

"What happened?" she asked.

"I...Grandma, I l-like a shinobi."

There was a silence," And?" she asked.

"I told father and-"

"How dumb are you?" she asked cutting me off,"why would you do that."

I stared at her shocked before giving a small laugh but I quickly stopped when I felt the sadness of how I felt sink in.

"He kicked me out of the house he told me that I couldn't come back until I got over him."

She stayed quiet as she stared at the ground,"Do you like him that bad?"

I nodded,"Part of the reason I told him because he caught me crying the day before and he was curious."

She looked up at me and sighed,"Is he a big shinobi I mean is he powerful and feared?"

I nodded slowly and she simply stared at me with a completely straight face.

"What's his name?"

I looked at the ground,"Madara Uchiha."

"Uchiha? You fell in love with an Uchiha. Are you seriously that stupid?"

I nodded and she gave a frustrated look.

She put her hand on my shoulder,"Everything will be alright, however, you can't stay here tonight."

My eyes widened,"Why?"

"Well...I also want you to get over this shinobi as well. If that means staying outside for one day I think it's good. It's better than being murdered in cold blood like your mother."

There was a silence,"I know this is a bad question but would there be a way you and father could ever accept him."

She looked up at the ceiling,"I'd have to meet him," she said,"as for your father probably not."

I gave a hitched breath out and got up

"You don't have to leave now. You can wait until the sun goes down."

I nodded and finally drank the tea she had put in front of me.

It was cold.

I stared at the ceiling before staring out the window. I wondered where I would sleep.

Would I have to sleep outside? I shrugged. Perhaps.

When the sun was almost down grandma urged me to leave so I did.

"If you don't resolve things with your father you can come back here. I'm still your grandma no matter what," she said.

I hugged her tightly and she waved at me and I was on my way. I had no idea what to do. I knew that it was going to get dark soon and I had no place to go. I shrugged it off before going into the forest behind grandma's cottage. I walked on the dirt path as memories of months ago came to my mind. I got poison ivy here.

I laughed and walked towards the stream. I stared at it and back at the sky. Now that I was kicked out I could go to the river right?

I walked down the river and when I got down to the end of it I sat down. I looked at the pathway to the village with sad eyes. I couldn't o back right now could I?

I sighed before looking down at the ground.

"Mitsuko."

I continued staring at the ground. The voice was probably just in my imagination.

I kept thinking but was snapped out of my thoughts when I saw black long hair.

My head turned and the face I saw shocked me and comforted me at the same time.

"Madara-sama," I said.

He stared at me with emotionless eyes before speaking,"What happened?"

I stiffened. He was so blunt and straightforward it scared me. I could feel my heart begin to beat as I felt a mixed feeling fill me up.

"My father found out that I liked you."

He blinked before sighing.

"I'm not allowed to go home tonight."

He looked forward not responding as his hair began to cover most of his face. He seemed to be thinking and I sat there silently as I just stared at him.

I could feel my heart beating as I stared at him happiness began to fill me up and I smiled just a little.

I stared forward ahead of me at the lake and wondered when he would leave. I would be all alone. I knew I should've been thinking about where I was going to sleep and things but I was just worried about being alone.

Hours passed of us sitting in silence occasionally speaking before Madara got up. I stared at him and then back down.

"Where are you going to sleep?" he asked.

I shrugged,"I'll find somewhere."

He stood staring down at me before extended his hand.

"Come," he said.

I blushed before taking his hand and he lifted me up.

I watched him as he put my arm over his shoulder.

I watched him close his eyes and in an instant, we were in a dark place.

I couldn't see anything but a light was soon turned on. I looked around and it was just a normal room. It was much bigger than any room in our house. In fact, I was guessing it might have been as big as our house was as our house was pretty small.

"How did you get here so-"

"I'm a shinobi," he said reminding me.

He lifted my arm off his shoulder and walked to a desk in the middle of the room and sat down on the chair.

Madara finally spoke,"You can sleep here," he said.

I tilted my head,"Where are we?"

He looked at me with an impassive facial expression.

"You're currently in the Uchiha compound, Mitsuko."
