'Why did you even wear that? You look repulsive.' They told her. 'You shouldn't even be allowed to wear things like that, you could never pull them off.' She kept hearing those voices in her head. Sapphire was at the mall with a friend named Alex and whenever she had tried on something new, these voices kept barking horrid insults and remarks at her so she tried her best to ignore them and have a good time with her best friend. She tried on a black strapless dress which had a red bow tied around the middle and a red headband with a bow on her head. Sapphire always wore that headband because not only did it remind her of Snow White, but also her mother who had passed away about a year ago. Alex was her only friend who had helped her through her that time, the rest of her so-called friends were out getting drunk and partying like normal teenagers. Sapphire couldn't really blame them, who would want to hang out with the weird depressed girl who did nothing but write stories and listen to music? Sapphire walked out of the little room where she had tried on the dress to show Alex how she looked. "Dude, you look awesome." He told her. Alex was a tall, lanky guy who could pass off as Sapphire's older brother. He had very dark brown spiked hair with an even darker shade of brown eyes, practically every girl who looked at him immediatly had a crush on him. Even though he was lanky, he was also very strong. Alex could probably knock someone out with his lightest punch, which scared Sapphire very much. He would always act like her older brother, protecting her and giving her advice. Sapphire has an older brother named Chris but he lives about 45 minutes away from her and is always working or practicing with his band so she didn't get to see him much. When she did, they would spend an entire day together watching movies, gossiping about stupid stuff, or going out to eat. Sapphire and Chris were really close so he knew pretty much everything about her.
"Thanks, Alex. Do you think I should get it?" She asked him. "Yeah, it looks great." He agreed. Sapphire went back into the dressing to put on her other clothes, which was an A Day To Remember t-shirt with dark blue skinny jeans and her cherry red combat boots. After she got out, they both walked up to the counter and saw a very pretty cashier with jet black hair and crystal clear blue eyes. Alex stood there jaw dropped and eyes practically glued to her face. "Did you find everything okay today, ma'am?" She asked Sapphire politely. "She did but I think God is having a bad time finding his missing angel." Alex gained his conciousness in time to say that horrible pickup line to the cashier. "Sorry about him and yes I did find everything okay today." Sapphire apologizes to the cashier and notices her name tag says, 'Wendy'. "No problem, miss. Your total is gonna be $35.45." Sapphire smiles at her gets her wallet out, fishing for money. "So." Alex smiles and glances down at Wendy's name tag. "Wendy, what time does your shift end?" He winks at her. Alex is an attractive guy, which makes him think he's every girl's dream, so every word he says to Wendy is dripping with over-confidence. "Sorry, baby doll, I have a girlfriend." Alex immediatly looks disappointed and nods reluctantly. Sapphire paid for her dress and walked out with a sad looking Alex. "There's the curveball you hate." Sapphire teases him. "Dude, why are all the cute ones gay?" He looks at her and then walks over to a bench. "I ask myself the same question." She walks over and sits down next to him. "I know what'll make you feel better. You want ice cream?" He looks at her with a grin on his face, his sad mood instantly gone. "Yeah, I do!" He grabs her hand and runs to the ice cream joint in mall. Much to Sapphire's dismay, the place is almost on the other side of the mall. "Godammit, Alex! Couldn't we have taken the shortcut through the stores?!" She yells while he's dragging her along the pathway, bumping into strangers. "Nope! This is way more fun!" Alex yells back at her. She groans and keeps running.
They finally get to the store and walk in, Alex's grin seems to be wider than before. Sapphire and Alex get in line and Sapphire asks him, "What do you want, bro?" Even though she already knew. They both get the same thing everytime they go to the parlor. "The usual. I'm gonna go get us a table." He gives her money to pay with and walks to 'their' table. Sapphire and Alex come to that parlor all of the time and get the exact same thing and sit at the exact same table every single time they come. Sapphire orders and gets their ice cream and walks to the table where she sees Alex.
