"Peter! Come on!" Peter's mother, Amyo, shouted up the stairs for Peter. Peter is a tall slender 16 year old with fluffy black hair that comes down to his cheeks. "No!" Peter groaned back. "Come on! You'll be late for your first day of school! Ever!" Amyo said. Peter rolled out of bed and went to the door way of his bedroom and slowly turned to look at his mother, Amyo. "No." Peter quickly wispered. "Come on!" Amyo groaned. "N.O." Peter said. Amyo started to grow impatient. "Why not? It will be fun! You can make friends! REAL friends, not wierd fire things that try to burn down the house!" Amyo tried to lighten the mood and cheer Peter up. "One, it will not be fun. Two, I Don't need friends. And three, they are not weird and they don't try to burn the house down!" Peter snapped back at his mother.

Peter then started to calm down. "I'm sorry." Peter quietly said to Amyo. "Come here." Amyo said. Peter slowly walked down the stair-way and into his Amyo's arms. "Mom I-" Amyo interupted him. "Don't. I'm nervous too, I don't know what the kids are going to be like. Also, I'm good friends with the director at the school, if any kids pick on you, he'll know. Trust me, we'll take care of it. "Now, get ready. Your breakfast is getting cold." Amyo mentioned.

Some time past, Peter got dressed and brushed his teeth, then walked down stairs to the kitchen table to see two white plates with gold colored edges, on top were 5 smaller sized pancakes stacked on each other. "Pancakes? What happened to eggs and sausage every morning?" Peter asked. "I know, but it's all I could do in a short amount of time after our little argument." Amyo answered. "It was hardly an argument." Peter groaned. "You want to waste more time starting a new one!?" Amyo was quick to say. "Jeez, calm down! I'll eat the pancakes. Peter looked at the plate and exhaled harshly.

The car ride to the school was silent, but Amyo was waiting for the right time to tell Peter that he wasn't going to a regular school. "Mom, you just passed up the school." Peter said. " I did not." Peter's mother replied. "Um, yes you did." Peter corrected. "I didn't pass up the school you're going to." Amyo grinned. "That's the only school in our area." Peter had a confused look on his face. Amyo turned on a back road that no one hardly drives on, in fact, only the gifted can see the road. "Where are we?" Peter questioned as they pulled in a large parking lot with multiple cars surrounding them. "School!" Amyo said looking at Peter with wide grin on her face. "This is Ether High School, a school for gifted children, such as yourself Peter." Amyo exclaimed. "More explanation will be provided during orientation." Amyo added. Peter had a blank look on his face. "Gifted children, like me?" Amyo nodded.

Peter got out of the car and looked at the school with a nervous gaze.
