I woke up, jolting my head into waking up. I never had such nightmares before. I sighed, as I got up to make my bed, like the usual routine at my house. I saw a boy on my desk, watching me with a bored expression. I hid myself with the cover sheets, as he rolled his eyes at my move.
"you done yet?" he asked, his tone being annoyed. I quickly and neatly folded it, and face him. "Sly told me to feed you breakfast." he said as he opened the door, eyeing me to follow.
We went down the hall, down the stairs, and to the kitchen. A man with a bloody red hat, blood was mixed in the hat, was cooking. I smelled the eggs and bacon as a little smile went on my face.
He gave it to me on a blue plate, and gave me a plastic fork.
"Here, eat it." He said as he went out of the back door. "What a gentleman." I muttered myself, in sarcasm. A man chuckled behind me. I tensed up a bit, seeing Seamus. "If Kootra were to hear that, he'll probably skin you." he was crossing his arms, leaning against the door frame. "Sorry." I said, as I ate my meal. "Koots isn't always like that. He maybe cruel on the outside, but ask him for advice or help, he'd be generous to give out a hand. As long as he's not busy." Seamus said, no showing of any emotion. He's hard to read.
"Kootra? Is that his name?" I started, as I turned sideways to face him, eating. I guess curiosity got me.
"His real name's Jordan." He said, still unable to read him. But his voice had a hint of sarcasm. "He's usually out and gets our meal for the day. Everybody's out besides me and Sly. And there's you here. Speaking of us, what did James do to you?" He asked. I gave him a puzzled look. "James, the guy who was meant to give you food?" he said as he raised an eyebrow. "He just lead me to the kitchen, and I saw erm...Jordan? Cook this." I said simply. "That bastard didn't even share shit." Seamus muttered. "That meal wasn't for you. Thats his meal for the day until later evening." He said in an annoyed tone. I guess he's kind after all. Just like Seamus said. I'll just thank him later.
After I was done eating, Seamus told me that Sly needed me down in the basement. I quickly went down and knocked to the door. Sly opened it and gave me a warm smile, which I smiled back.
I stopped smiling after what I saw.
It was a woman, somewhat on the thirties, stuck on the little jail that I used to be last night. She looked very healthy, but dark circles were below her eyes but had a missing eye. The sight almost made me throw my breakfast up.
"I want you to determine if she's sick or not." Sly said simply. I walked over to the cell, and opened the door. She eyed me and gave me a worried expression as she went on her knees crawling to me. "Please have mercy, I'm very feeble. I'm skinny and I don't have very good functioning organs a-" She was abruptly cut by a foot kicking her against the wall. She gasped and coughed as I trailed the foot to its owner. It was Sly's.
"Tell me, is she sick?" sly said with a dark expression. I gulped. "Y-yes. It looks like she has um, liver cancer. Based that she's clutching her abdomen with her hand, and weight loss. She also has a bit of yellow skin and eyes." I said as I observed her. She looked away, sensing that I was right. Sly went in front of her and raised his knife, awaiting to be plunged into her heart. My eyes widen as I went in front of the girl.
"Wait!" I said as sly raised an eyebrow. "What are you doing?" Sly asked me as I felt very nervous. "St-topping you from K-killing this girl." I said, stuttering. "Meaning your stopping me?" he said in a serious, dead manner. "She's going to die anyways. Might as well end it now." he said as the girl behind me gave a small laugh. "He's right. I'm very close to dying. I don't have any relatives or friends, they abandoned me of my illness. Might as well end my suffering." she said, pitting herself. I lowered my arms down, and slowly turned away, leaving the cell. I was about to close the door when the girl called. “Can you do something for me? It’s my last request.” She said, talking to Sly. “What is it? I’ll grant it if its not too hard.” He said. “Can you remember me?” She asked, as Sly jabbed the knife inside her. I heard a voice saying; Emily. It was a que for me to shed some tears. I put my hand on my mouth to hide my quivering mouth.
Sly did the deed as went out with the body. "I was expecting more from you. I've been too soft on you." he muttered as he disposed of the girl.
