Sam was speeding home from work as fast as the law allowed him to. Hell, he went faster.

Today was his day.

Sure, sam gets off of work at 12 A.M., and it's 8 P.M., but this is more important.

Tears threatened to spill as he hit the steering wheel in his Toyota.

"Please- oh dear god please not him!"

You see, him and Colby have been happily married for 3 years, the two boys being 25 years old.
Colby has been struggling with depression for as long as sam can remember.

Sam got a text.

from Colby.
"sammy. i love you. i am really sorry, sammy, please forgive me one day. im okay now, please don't worry. i love you. goodbye"

Sam knew what it meant.

But he couldn't say goodbye.

All the boys wanted was to grow up old together, not to die young. They wanted a family.

But Colby couldn't do that.

Sam was home.

He ran up to the unlocked door of his house, throwing it open in a panic, screaming for Colby.

"COLBY! COLBY PLEASE!" He cried out, sobbing, running to the only light source in the dim-lit house, the bathroom.
but it was locked.

"Colby- Colby please! You don't have to do this! I'm here for you! I- i love you- "

Sam was pretty sure he heard a faint "im sorry" from behind, sending a chill down his spine. He told himself that it was jut his mind's trickery.

He was ramming himself into the door now. The only thing on his mind being Colby's frail life, his vision blurred with tears spilling like the overflowing rim in the porcelain bathtub.

He broke through.

Colby was laying on the ground on his back by the toilet, all signs of life drained from his body.

The atmosphere grew cold.

Sam ran over to him, kneeling over to his limp body. In his hands, crossing his heart, held a photo.
A photo of their Wedding Day.

Sam pulled him in to feel his heart beat.

"Please dont leave me, I can't imagine a world with you gone! I'd be so lost if you left me alone Colby! Don't leave, please, come back, I still need you! Hold on, please, I still want you! I love you! I need you Colby!"

You know how people always say that someone always looked more peaceful being asleep on their deathbed? Sam always believed that, until he saw Colby laying there. He just looked, dead.

Sam swooped him up into his loving arms, laying him gently into the back seat of his car, speeding off to the hospital. The ride was so silent, like a nightmare you can't escape from. He prayed the light isn't fading.

Sam checked into the emergency room's staff, Colby being dragged by paramedics into the white-walled room. Sam ran after him, despite the team of nurses behind him trying to stop him.
Unfortunately, the now locked metal door was shut. But, the window's blinds were open.
He clung onto the glass, watching the medical staff place his weight on the table, crying.
They pull him in to feel his heartbeat, Sam being pulled back by nurses.

"PLEASE DONT LEAVE ME!" Sam shouted, being dragged away by the nurses, the faint shadow of the man he loved being given CPR by the professionals, tears preventing him to see anything else.

He could only think of their past.
When they met
Their late night talks
Every deep conversation
Their best romantic times
Their first date
Their first kiss
Every all-nighter they pulled
Every movie they've watched
Every bad thing seemed to fade.

He was let in the room, and he was given the news of his best friend, his lover, and his royal husbands death.

He looked different. This time, he was peaceful, he looked like he was smiling, unlike the dead- looking lump he really was.

Oh, how Sam will miss that smile. That pure, white smile that lit up a room. The one that he woke up to. The one that he made love to.

"Im so sorry that I failed you," Sam cried into his chest, the doctors slipping out of his room. He intertwined their fingers for the last time.

"I hope you're happy. I'll see you soon. You will always be with me, I will never forget you or anything that we've done. You are my other half. Sam and Colby against the world. I won't let go, Colby. I know I'm not that strong, I know I want this to just be a dream, I want you to wake up and tell me 'baby let's go home,' but I know it can never be like that. Oh, my colby, I just want to take you home, I'm so so sorry. I know you're happy, baby, I know, I just can't imagine the world with you gone. I love you, Colby," Sam sobbed, praying to any godly force out there that Colby can hear him.

"I love you so god damn much."
"I'm letting go- I-I know I have to. I'm letting go for you. You're gone, but I will never forget you."

Sam slid the ring off of Colbys finger, sliding his off, and switching them out, so they both had a piece of each other.

Sam looked at the shut-eyed boy, moving the soft brown hair that he oh-so loved out of his face, kissing is soft forehead.

"I'll see you soon, Colby."

And with that, he let go, sending the younger boy away, wishing for him to rest easy and peacefully.

Little did sam know, Colby was right with him, and always would be.
