The trailer currently addressed to Jane Foster on the outskirts of town wasn't hard to find. It was small, fit for one person, and rather dingy looking, as if it had been on one road trip too many without the proper tuneups. I guess scientists studying hypothetical bridges didn't really bring in a lot of cash, especially after their equipment has been confiscated.
As I approached the door, I could hear voices. One was female, definitely belonging to this Jane Foster, and the other, deep and foreign, Thor. While I only had one conversation with him, I could have picked his booming voice out in a crowd. I took a deep breath, hiked up my backpack, and knocked twice.
A short, brown haired woman answered the door. She eyed me cautiously, unsure of what to make of me. I was definitely a sight to behold, my dark hair falling in wisps out of its braids, and clad from head to toe in black. I gave her a small smile.
"Is Thor here?"
Thor, rubbing his chin, appeared in the doorway behind the woman, filling in the rest of the frame. His blue eyes lit up as he saw me standing before them, expectantly.
"I want some answers," I said sternly as I followed them out of the trailer and towards the makeshift laboratory next door. "Real ones this time. And i want to know everything."
Jane looked over her shoulder at me, stopping right before the door. "Who exactly are you?" She asked, looking from me to Thor and back again.
I looked up at him. "You tell her," I said, "seeing as I'm still learning that for myself."
Thor glanced down at me before speaking. "This is Brynhild," he said simply.
I glared at him. "I could have told her that much."
Jane glanced between the two of us, clearly still confused. I could tell that she knew very little of Thor despite the obvious trust she placed in him. "Look, I don't know what's going on between the two of you," Jane started, but was cut off by my stomach growling loudly. Thor let out a loud laugh, clapping me on the back.
"You take after me in that respect," he guffawed.
I cocked an eyebrow. "I take after you?"
"Come inside," Thor said, steering me into their makeshift laboratory. "We have much to discuss, Little One."
"You've got that right," I mumbled under my breath.
Before following them inside, I glanced behind me, eyes wandering to the roof of the building across the street. In the morning light, I could make out two hunched over, black figures. Agents. Why hadn't I thought of that? I could almost hear them reporting my appearance into the comm-link. Coulson would be out here the minute he heard of my whereabouts. I hadn't thought this through. It was too late to do anything about them. No doubt they had already signaled that I had shown up. I glanced back up at them, raised a hand, and waved cheerfully before stepping inside.
Two others were already seated at the table. I recognized the older man to be Dr. Erik Selvig, Astrophysicist. The other, a dark haired woman, I guessed to be Darcy Lewis, the intern. Thor led me over to the table and motioned for me to sit. I did as I was told.
"Um, who's this?" Darcy asked bluntly, eyeing me from above her coffee.
"Darcy, meet Bryn. Bryn, Darcy," Jane said over her shoulder. "She's with Thor, I think."
"It's complicated," Thor muttered, helping Jane make breakfast at he counter. I huffed.
