Before I could react, the sky filed with lightning. The creature loosened its hold on me and I squirmed away, diving for the ground as a small, metallic object emerged from the source of the light and hurtled towards the creature, knocking it down. The wind around me began to pick up, some sort of tornado forming in the sky. I scrambled to my feet and clung to the nearest light post, watching as the metallic creature was lifted up into the air and carried into the heart of the storm. Once the storm dissipated somewhat on the ground, I ran towards Jane, who stood eyeing the dark sky.
"Is that Thor?" I asked, almost unwilling to believe it. She nodded in affirmation. "He got his hammer back, then," I muttered, a large blast of light emanating from above us.
A metal corpse fell from the sky. As the dust cleared, Thor strode toward us, dressed in attire like the four warriors. He shook his head as he reached me, pulling me into a hug. "Don't you ever do that again, do you hear me?" He scolded into my hair. "That thing could have killed you."
I rolled my eyes. "But it didn't."
Sif scoffed. "This really is her, isn't it?" she asked Thor. He nodded.
"Come on, Bryn, let's take you home."
We didn't get very far. We had hardly regrouped when a large black van rounded the corner, stopping before us. Coulson emerged from the driver's seat, shaking his head.
"You haven't been very honest with us, Donald."
I snorted. "You haven't been very honest with me. Now we're even." I grabbed Thor's hand and made to walk around Coulson. "Come on," I whined, pulling at his arm.
"Know this, Son of Coul," Thor started, planting his feet and ignoring my incessant tugging. "You and I, we fight for the same cause -- the protection of this world. From this day forward, count me as your ally."
Coulson nodded, seeming to consider his offer.
"If you return the items stolen from Jane Foster."
Coulson was quick to correct Thor. "Not stolen, borrowed," he said. "You'll get your equipment back. You'll need it for your research, which after today's events, SHIELD would like to fully sponsor."
Thor turned to Jane and kissed her knuckles gently. I immediately let go of his arm and pretended to gag behind the pair. "Whatever fate lies before me, you are a part of it," he told her earnestly. "I will return for you."
I didn't have any desire to watch the pair of them kiss, so I headed towards Coulson and into his open arms. "I can't stay here," I said.
"I know," he muttered, pulling me into a tight hug.
"I have to go with Thor. I need to know who and what I am."
"I know."
"Good." I pulled away from Coulson.
"You'll always have a home at SHIELD," Coulson said softly.
I grinned. "I know. I'll be back to annoy you before you know it."
"You'd better."
Wiping my eyes, I turned away from Coulson and back to Thor. He took my had in his, and began to yell at the sky. "Hold tight, Bryn. this might be a bit disorienting the first time."
"I'm ready."
"Heimdall, open the Bifrost!"
Nothing happened. I glanced around, the warriors behind me growing restless. I knew they were fearing the worst. "Heimdall!"
Then the world erupted into color and I was swept off my feet.
