After Liam mentioned they were leaving for New York the next day Louis didn't get a wink of sleep.
He got into bed at 9 pm and expected to fall asleep by 9:30 but here he was now; eyes cracked wide open and the time reading 2 am.
Their flight was early. Maybe around 6 am or so. He wasn't exactly sure right now since he was so hyper aware of EVERYTHING. The only thing swirling around his mind was why you could never actually be in total silence.
If you think about it, the world is never silent. Even when cars stop driving, nature stops chirping, and electricity stops working you'll still hear white noise.
There will never be a day in Louis' life where he will be in total silence. That strange thought wasn't leaving his mind. It was 2 am and it was all he could think about.
He sat in his bed staring at the blank ceiling while listening to the white noise around him. A rattling noise came from another part in his apartment startling him to sit up. He slipped out of bed carefully and tiptoed out of the room, through the living room, and to the kitchen. It was dark, and the only thing he could see was a big silhouette. As a natural self defense mechanism he lunged at the person and hooked his arms around their neck to immobilize their breathing. He recalled learning it in karate when he was a young boy.
"Louek- arnngg," the person choked out.
"Louis! Get off!" The person starts coughing as soon as Louis recognizes the voice to be Liam's.
"Oh my god! Liam I'm so sorry I thought you were an intruder!" Louis whispered frantically in the silence of the flat.
"It's okay. I was just getting water. Couldn't sleep," Liam said quietly while continuing to grab a glass.
Louis hummed in agreement, "me too." He sat down at the kitchen table in the dark and rested his head on his palms. The only light on was the stove light. Which casted a soft glare onto Liam's face as he pulled his glass from the cupboard and filled it with water.
"Are you excited for tomorrow?" Liam asked the slightly sleepy boy. Louis picked his head off the table and sucked on his lip in thought.
"I think I'm more excited to be in New York rather than doing the actual interview."
Liam chucked at that and so did Louis. "We better get to bed. Our flight is in 4 hours." Liam responded with a yawn. Louis nodded and sleepily stood up then walked slowly out of the kitchen. A few moments later Liam followed.

A blaring of an alarm woke louis up 3 hours and 30 minutes later. He groaned dramatically and grabbed the phone and shut it off. He sat in bed thinking about everything he had to do before leaving for the airport. 1. Shower, 2. Pack snacks for the ride, 3. Make sure he has all of his essentials packed, and 4. Try to survive.
It was 5:30 am now, and he had to get to the airport before his flight took off at 6:45 am. He lifted his body off of the bed tiredly and slowly stood up. Then he started taking all of his clothes off as he made his way into the bathroom. Turning on the shower head, he drowsily stared at himself in the mirror on the other wall. He looked like a mess. Hopefully they still wanted to interview this crazy looking person.
When the water was warm enough he stepped in and relaxed his shoulders underneath it for 3-5 minutes. He was too tired to start washing his hair right away.
The water dripped down his body and went down the drain along with his train of thought.
When he was done soaping up his hair and body and washing off, he stepped out and wrapped a towel around his waist and shoulders. The coolness of the bathroom was more noticeable now that he was wet. Goosebumps covered his skin. He dried his body up in every nook and cranny then started putting clothes on. He put on a regular black T-shirt and a pair of joggers for the plane ride. It was gonna be a long one, and he wanted to stay comfy. He brushed his teeth for 2 minutes and washed his face.
