Creaking floor boards, night time blackness, sudden footsteps, moans and groans. A house with a haunted theme to it, hidden away in the dark, bewildering woods.

The house itself looked to stand in eternal darkness, not a light to shine through. The trees seemed to be whispering amongst the chill breeze. Their branches reached out as if trying to grasping for you, there were what looked to be faces on the trunks, mean faces.

The eyes of the shriveled, nasty looking faces followed me down the darkened pathway (or as it seemed). It felt as if the trees were alive and watching me intently as I approach the house. A slight whisper flew about the air. It was a strange almost creepy echoing low whisper... I listened closely to what it was saying, it sounded almost like, "Beware... beware... the house of scares..."

A sudden chill swept over me giving me goosebumps as I slowly approached the house. A screeching noise sounded from a weather vain on top the house.

My eyes darted from one place to another as I checked my surroundings. 'Hoo, hooo, hoo, hooo!' an owl screeched making me jump in fright.

"It's just an owl, now calm down..." I whisper to myself as I saw the owl perched on a tree branch near by. It glared at me with its orange eyes then looked away.

I turned my focus back to the dark taunting house in front of me. Still slightly shaking, I proceeded with caution. I slowly walked up the creaking old porch steps; my head still spinning around the fact that I was actually here and going into this old creepy mansion... alone...

Thoughts crowded my mind as I entered the house, 'Why did I play Truth or Dare with my friends? What will I find? Will I make it out alright?' but most of all, 'Could there be something in there waiting for ME?'

I opened the door  and walked in, my heart beat became louder and faster than before, almost like a drum with a rhythm of, 'thump thump, thump thump...' . I tried to calm down, but when I looked at my surroundings it only became worse...

Wallpaper on the walls was torn or rippled, some wood boards or planks lay on the ground, the smell of must and sour filled the air,and the floor boards creaked under me as I slowly made my way to the stairs. Disgusting-looking cobwebs hang down from the ceiling, it looked as if the wood on the walls and floor were rotted out, dust and webs covered books on the shelves, and the paint looked to be chipping off the walls in small thin flake-like pieces.

I moved towards the stairs, the old oak railing seemed to be unstable, seeing cracks along the bottom base of it I stayed close to the wall; I cautiously made my way up the stairs that groaned under my weight. I watched were I was going to make sure I didn't fall into any holes in the stairs. I was half way up the stairs when I suddenly had a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach and stopped in place.

The eerie look of the second level made me even more sick. It was said that there was no electricity at all in the house, but what I saw was a sign that it was haunted...  I saw a dim light coming from up stairs...

So my fellow friends...what do you think? Is it creepy? Please let me know in the comments. And don't forget to vote!
