Chapter Five: Breaking News Gale

***TWO WEEKS LATER***

I've bee helping Prim with her packing. She has so much stuff that she's taking with her, it's not even funny. Her computer, tablet, clothes, shoes, supplies, and a lot more that she really doesn't need. She should take the bare minimum because I know every time she comes back home for a visit or a break she will bring it all back. Oh well, that will be her problem. And whens he deals with that, I will be with Peeta. I cannot wait to move in with him, but I feel bad because we aren't married yet. Maybe one day he will propose to me, and we will be able to live together guilt free.

"So Prim, what would you like to do until college?" I ask her as we take a break from packing. Only we take a break, the maids carry boxes down stairs.

"I'm not sure,w e haven't done much yet and I only have two days."

"Do you think it will be different? Being away from home so long?"

"I could ask you the same question." She laughs at me.

"That's true I guess. What are you majoring in again?"

"I'm getting my ADN (Associates Degree in Nursing) and I will hopefully be able to work at the local hospital." She says with a proud look on her face.

"Good for you Prim, you have a lot more planned out than what I do." I admit.

"Well, how are you and Peeta going to earn money?" She asks.

"Hopefully his job with pay enough, and since I'm going to help him supervise that will help. But that's not my career. I'm not sure what is it yet." I sigh.

"You will think of it at some point. But for now, let's help with these boxes." She stands up and helps me, so we both start taking boxes downstairs with the help of the maids. Once we finish, we all sit down for a few minutes. Prim has way to much stuff. Tomorrow, we are taking everything to OSU and setting up her dorm room. I get an idea, since OSU is only 2 hours away, maybe my parents won't need to go.

"Hey, Prim, what do you think about going on a little road trip? Mom and dad don't have to come with us tomorrow it can just be us." I suggest.

"That sounds perfect, I'm not sure if I can deal with dad going on and on about how his youngest is off to college. Again." We both giggle at the thought of our dad almost in tears because Prim is leaving for a college two hours away, and he can literally go see her whenever he wants. So we hang around the house, Finnick and Annie come over with Nemo for awhile. That kid is getting so big already, it seems so unreal. After a few hours they leave and we just wait for our parents to come home from work. When they do and we sit down for dinner, we explain our idea to them. They are hesitant at first, but they agree to let us go. It's going to give us a little girl time is all. After dinner, I meet with Gale in the woods for some archery practice. It's been awhile since I've used my bow and arrows because I've had a lot on my mind, and a lot to do.

"So I'm taking Prim to college tomorrow to set up her dorm." I tell him as he raises his bow, aiming at a target.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah, I'm not thrilled about the traffic that comes with a big city of course, so maybe I'll get around it somehow."

"We went to a water park there once when we were little. You and Prim should check that out." He suggest, releasing his arrow and hitting the target dead center. "Beat that Girl on Fire."

"You have to be the only person that still calls me that." I say taking my position and lifting my bow. "A water park? Isn't that childish?" 

"Not really, iit's actually pretty awesome. A lot of people go there. If not check out the zoo, or go to the OSU football stadium."

"We are girls, we aren't going to see a football stadium. I mean, I wouldn't mind but Prim hates football." I release my own arrow and it goes just to the left of his."

"You can't beat me Everdeen." He says. "The zoo is fun, I think it's a lot of land but I was also 8 when I went. I didn't want to walk all day, I wanted to go back to the water park."

"What is it called?"

"Zoombezi Bay." He says taking position again.

"I will see what she thinks." After that nothing is said. All I can think about is how I'm two weeks from leaving and he is the only person I haven't told yet. I'm afraid of his reaction, because I'm the person he talks to when something goes wrong. Now I won't be here. Tell him Katniss! Do it now!

"Hey Gale? Can we talk about something?" I ask.

"Sure, what is it?

"Maybe you should put your weapon down first."

"It's okay." He says taking aim. He is going to make this more difficult. So instead of taking my time with it, I just blurt it out.

"In two weeks I'm moving out of state with Peeta." I say and the next thing I know, an arrow has hit a tree directly left of the target. Gale's bow is on the ground and he's turning around.

"You're what?" I can hear the sadness in his voice.

"Peeta's parents have added a chain to their business and need supervisors, so I'm going to be helping Peeta supervise a few stores in North Carolina."  

"How long have you known you would be going." He walks over to me.

"About two weeks."

"Why haven't you told me?"

"I was afraid of how you would react." I sigh.

"Kat, as long as we can call each other or skype, just as long as I still get to see you, I'm happy for you." He says with a smile.

"Really?"

"Absolutely. That's what friends do for each other, they support one another." I can't help myself, and I end up hugging him.

"Thank you Gale." I say. He doesn't reply, he just hugs me back. After a minute or so, we decide to get back to practice; A huge weight has just been lifted off my shoulders.

But good news! My cousin left the hospital today! Thank God!
