Chapter 2

"Prince Shouyou, it's time for dinner," the royal tutor slightly shakes his shoulder to wake him up. Shouyou groaned then scratches his cheek. He was sitting earlier before he sleeps but now he's laying on the sofa with a blanket covering his body.

"Princeeee," Sugawara called again. This time, the prince didn't budge. The silver-haired guy places his hand on his hip and the other scratches his head. He knows that he would wake up easily just by saying any word related to food but it seems like he is really tired for the day. He walks out of the room and asks a maid to bring his food inside instead.

The next morning, Shouyou woke up with an aching stomach and a stiff neck. He sits up from the settee then yawns. He spaced out. It became a habit of it—staring out after sitting up from the bed. He heard a knock from the door.

"Come in," he said to the person outside.

The door opens and revealed a tall,  blonde man who is wearing eyeglasses and is dressed in a butler suit. Tsukishima Kei, one of the royal butlers of the Karasuno Kingdom. Shouyou never liked him. He was a walking salt and can easily get on his nerves. Despite being just a butler, he has the ability to roast him. A scowl formed on his face.

He bows his head and his right arm folded, his palm on his chest. "Your Highness, the king is calling you. He said that the princess is here. You must get ready and make yourself presentable. And make it fast."

He suddenly bolted from the couch. He just suddenly remembered that a princess will come today. He told Tsukishima, "Okay," then the butler left him. He rushed into his room and fumbles through his clothes. When he was able to pick a decent pair of clothes, he wore it, checks himself in front of the mirror and dashes to the hall where his parents are. The royal guards greeted him as he runs on the corridors. He catches his breath first before entering the hall. The huge doors open and he steps inside. His eyes traveled around the huge room and saw a brunette girl in a pink gown standing on the red carpet in front of the king and queen. She must be the princes, he thought. He focused his eyes on his parents with pleased looks. They must be happy for their son but their son felt the opposite. He stopped walking when he is finally beside the unknown girl.

"Shouyou, this is Princess Runa Kuribayashi from the Johzenji Kingdom. She's here to look around and to have a little chat with you," said the king.

The girl turns to him and smiles. "Nice to meet you, Prince Shouyou."

He returns the gesture and smiles back, "Likewise."

They left the huge room and went into the garden. The princess seems to be enjoying herself while surrounding herself with colorful flowers. Shouyou watches her while making a forced smile.

"You like them a lot, huh?" The prince asked.

The girl turns to him and nods. "Yup. We have a garden in our kingdom but it's not as big as this. How do I put it? Flowers can help me relax whenever I'm feeling down."

Shouyou watched her play with the flowers for seconds, minute, minute and another minute. He's seriously getting bored that he wants to leave and go back to his room to sleep. The princess noticed the guys uneasiness. She felt embarrassed.

"I-I'm sorry. I got distracted," she flushed.

Shouyou gave her a smile. "It's alright."

The two stroll around the garden of the palace while sharing facts about themselves. Shouyou clearly knows that she's a nice and pretty person but he just can't take an interest towards her. He thought that maybe they just met this day so he doesn't take any interest towards her just yet. The sun was about to set when the carriage from the Johzenji palace came to pick her up. She thanked the prince for showing her around and bid farewell. She told him that she'll come to visit tomorrow. She also added that she will bring some foods from their kingdom. Karasuno's prince felt relieved and tired after a day of walking and rarely got his hands on foods. He walks upstairs and went straight to his room. He was shocked to find his room open. He thought that a thief must have barged in while she's with the princess. He slowly peeks from the slightly open door and scans his room. He saw a person wearing a maid outfit who is placing a tray on his table.

'So it's just a maid. That scared me,' he thought.

He pushed the door wider, making the maid flinch in surprise. Shouyou watched her trembling body as she slowly turns her head around. She has a short, blonde hair with the frilly headband for a maid, a pair of golden orbs and a smart, fragile frame. He is sure that he has seen all of the workers inside the castle but this is his first time meeting her.

"U-um... Good evening, Your Highness. I-I just brought your snack. The butler, Yamaguchi-san, gave me the key," she explained in a terrified tone. She's not even looking at the guy in front of her because of intense nervousness.

"Hey, are you...?" He eyed her intently. The girl can totally feel that he's digging holes on her with those stares.

"Y-y-ye-yes?" Her voice squeaked.

"You're new here, aren't you?"

The maid looks at him and slowly nods sheepishly. Shouyou smiles and walks near her.

"I see. How long are you here?"

"About a week."

"Hn. Doing great, eh? By the way, what's your name? I already memorized the names of the 20 maids, 20 butlers, 12 chefs, our previous tutors, 10 gardeners and probably 48 guards so I want to know yours, too."

Despite being a prince, he can talk casually to the people lower than him. This makes the girl feel at ease.

"Yachi Hitoka, Your Highness," she replied in a low tone.

"Yachi-san, huh? Well, nice meeting you," he taps her on the shoulder then proceeds on his soft bed. He jumps on it, his face is burrowing under the pillows. "Just close the door before you leave. And when the meal is ready, just bring it here. I don't have any energy to stand up."

"Y-yes, sir," Yachi bows her head before leaving the room.

It didn't take long before the prince sleeps soundly on his bed after the girl left.
