Mother's 'Day'

Such a blissful morn,
Such a pleasant day,
What would you like to do they say?

I take a moment to think it through.
No chores, no cooking,
maybe a dress that is blue.
New shoes, a spa date
Even a movie would do.

Or maybe a play, I know the ones in which they sing.
It's just a break of a few hours if you think.

So much I desire,
so much I crave for.
But what I really really need,
Can I be brave for?

I smile up at their hopeful faces.
On my husband's face I can see a frowns traces.

'Four hours of silence' can you give me,
I'll just stay here in bed.
They smile brighter, more sinister,
How bout just a card and cake instead?
