"Mr. Kim?"
As soon as his name left my lips, my own name found its way to his tongue, rolling off of it.
"What are you doing out here?"
"Um, I went to a p-party?"
"What? Ah, nevermind, first come in you're soaking wet..." Holding me by the elbow, he ushered me in.
The room was cosy and pretty neat, bathed in a warm yellow light from the wooden-carved lamp that sat elegantly in the corner of the living space. Mr. Kim left me, saying," Please wait here for a bit. I'll go get some towels, 'kay?" And despite the cold rainwater-drenched dress clinging to my curves, I felt my cheeks growing warm with... adoration, admiration, or what? Even I'm not sure.
I was just getting over my little infatuation with my Physics teacher and there he goes popping up out of nowhere in midst of my dilemma. Wait, why is he here in the first place? Don't tell me that the three names that I saw were...
"There you go. We don't want you to catch a cold now, do we?" Walking into the space and handing me a lavender fluffy towel that smells like laundry and him, he looks completely at home. He notices my wary gaze and chuckles, a deep throaty sound, "What? Why are looking at me like that? I live here."
"Um, I kind of get that already but, where is your family?"
His eyebrows arch, "Oh, my wife and son are at my wife's house. They will be gone for a couple of weeks or so." Though he says it nonchalantly, there is a hint of regret and despair in his voice, but it doesn't go unnoticed by me. "I see." I can't say anything more. I'm confused to say the least, where is the ring on his finger if he's married? But that depends on one's beliefs so I can't jump to conclusions.
"Hurry up and go take a bath to warm yourself up, I've readied the bath also. You should stay the night. The weather doesn't seem to get any better."
"Thank you so much, Mr. Kim, I really appreciate it." I offer him a gentle smile.
He acts a little bashful, rubbing the back of his head. "It's not really much I could do for you. 😄 But to repay me, please call me Wonshik, not Mr. Kim, it feels odd in my home..."
"Alright, Mr-I mean, Wonshik."
"Good girl..."and he ruffles my half damp hair. I feel a blush bloom again and so, I excuse myself to the bath awaiting me.
He calls my name,"Ah, this will be your room for tonight." I nod and I enter the bathroom feeling a bit giddy.
