I woke up and felt a hand on my shoulder. I tried shaking it off, but I found it hard to move. My head felt heavy, and when I opened my eyes the world was blurred. I tried sitting up multiple times, but the hand kept shoving me down again.

"Lay down, okay?"

I let out a grunt in disapproval but accepted it in the end.

"Slept well?" I knew that voice, but I was so disorientated that I could not recognize it at first.

"No, what happened?"

"Well, I only know that you started screaming, when you saw the headmaster's face. I've been told that you said my name and to go get me. I got pulled out of class to be here you know. I take my classes very seriously, so you owe me one."

"Sorry."

"Nah, I'm just joking. I got pulled out of biology, but it doesn't matter, because I have already read our entire curriculum for this year, twice. I won't miss anything important." Kyle said whit a smile in his voice.

"Good. I would not want you to fall behind because of me," I said still a bit out of it, but able to understand what he was saying.

I could feel myself slowly getting back to normal. I sat straight up in my bed, when the drugs had stopped working completely. I remembered the incident with the hound and the one with William. I started to shake, and Kyle noticed immediately.

"Hush, it's going to be alright. I promise."

My trembling got worse and I was crying. Kyle removed his hand from my shoulder and placed his arms around me instead. It had a soothing effect on me, and soon I had stopped shaking.

"How did you do that? How did you make me calm so quickly?"

"It has its advantages being the Son of Elijah and the Prince of Protection. It for example means I am capable of calming people down, by making them believe that I can protect them," Kyle said sounding proud.

I could not help but smile, "Thank you, Kyle."

I thanked him for everything and nothing in particular. I thanked him for being here for me and keeping me company.

"You're welcome."

Kyle released me from his arms and took a step away from the bed.

"Maybe I should try to explain a few things to you about this place: how things work here, and maybe explain the few unearthly things you have witnessed."

"Kyle, it's very sweet that you are trying to help, but nothing of this is real. You're not real and I am sure I'm going to wake up soon, and realise that this was all just a dream," I said to him. I took his hand and told him I appreciated everything he had done for me, even though I knew he was just a part of my imagination.

"Ammi, please listen to me. This is not a dream."

I did not say anything, so he continued, "I don't know how to make you believe what I am saying," He let out a big sigh.

None of us said anything for a while. I could almost feel how disappointed in me he was, and it hurt.

"You know what? Give me to seconds, I have to get something."

Kyle ran out, closed the door behind him and returned five minutes later. In those five minutes a hurtful thought had crossed my mind, because I could not help but wonder if he had just run off to get away from me, since I did not believe in what he said. I had laid back and waited for him to return, and when he did not do so, I tried to fall asleep. I wanted to wake up in my bed at home, to the sound of my father coming home from work. We would start making dinner together, like we always did. There would be no monsters, no creepy headmaster and no disappointed Kyle.

A bit short - the next chapter will be longer, promise!

Joke:

My dog used to chase people on a bike a lot. It got so bad, finally I had to take his bike away.
