JOURNEY TO THE EDGE OF THE UNIVERSE.

CHAPTER 1 : KNOWING ABOUT THE UNIVERSE

Characters:

Tom Susskind(Tom; Son.) : A young boy of 10 who loves to learn and explore the things that happen inside and outside the Earth.

Garry Susskind(Dad): One of the most renowned cosmologist who discovered the concepts of string theory and entropy of a black hole.

Marie Susskind(Mom): She is a renowned chemist of Europe but mainly a housewife who takes all the necessary care to her family.

Story begins..

Scene: At the Drawing room~

Dad( very tired, came home late , relaxing on the sofa);; Tom enters...

Tom: Dad what are the things present outside the world?

Dad(a bit stunned): Good question son; there are many things present outside the world like the sun,moon,other planets ,distant stars, galaxies, meteors, comets, and many more ..... I guess these are there in your books .

Tom : Yes dad there are images of all these which you have mentioned right now but I thought that you would mention something more than these...

Dad : Yes my boy, I could have mentioned the terms like black holes , white holes , baby universes, parallel and antiparallel universes but the fact is that you will develope a curiosity to know more about them which may hamper your studies.

Tom(a little perplexed): Okay dad fine .

Tom(quickly): Then dad , why do we only live on Earth and not on other planets?

Dad( in an angry mood): A really stupid question ; Tom; I thinks tutors have taught you why is this so ?

Tom(a little scared): I forgot; Dad!

Dad(exaggerating) : Brilliant Tom ; wish you a great life ahead?.

Dad(keeping his cool): This is because of the fact that life  only exists on the Earth and not on other planets because Earth has the sufficient Oxygen and Water for Survival.

Tom(quickly): Do we live inside a universe ?

Dad: Yes;; and scientists predict that this universe may not be the one and only universe . There may be other universes!!

Tom(surprised): What?? Other Universes!!

Dad(in a teaching mood): Yes son; but the fact is it has been a theoratical discussion and mathematically proven through string theory but there is no practical prove about it. Moreover , the universe in which we are living is constantly expanding and accelerating. So, for the possible existence of other parallel universes; they should be unimaginable distance far from our universe in which we live.

Tom(hearing everything): Dad I want to be an astronaut.!!

Dad(very happy): Sure Tom ; but to achieve your goal you need to be serious and punctual from now on so that your dream can come true•

Tom(excited): Okay Dad;; I and my friends will invent various equipments and materials so that we can go outside the Earth and finally visit the edge of the universe!

Dad(laughing): Son; it is merely impossible to reach at the edge of the universe. Moreover you have to complete your beginner level studies; pass out from college and university before entering into the field of astronomy..

Tom(serious): Yes Dad. I am sure that my friends will also help me in making my dream come into reality.

Mom(shouting): Dinner Time!!

Dad & Son(both): We are coming!!

Scene: At the dining table~

Mom(angry): What were both of you talking for so long.. I was literally shouting like anything.

Tom(excited): Mom; I want to be an astronaut.

Mom : An astronaut !! Its not so easy to become an astronaut. Its not your bed of roses.

Tom: Don't worry ,Mom; its not impossible to be an astronaut; right!

[Tom explains what he thinks about the universe to his Mom but his Mom seems to be ignoring her child. Actually she is thinking about the future of Tom;  that what will Tom do when he grows up into an Adult. This is something which is giving a mental stress to Tom's Mom since the birth of Tom]

Tom: Mom;; what happened ?

Mom : Nothing,, Tom;; Your  thinking is great but you need to work hard..

Tom: Sure!!! Mom|

Dad(interrupts): Let us have our dinner and go to sleep.
I need to go to lab tomorrow . Its already 11 pm now.

Mom & Tom(both): OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then the family goes off to sleep.
