Hi. I'm Alyssa. Nice to meet you. I'm sixteen and live in Seattle, Washington. This is my story.  "Come downstairs, sweetie" yells my mother. "It's time for dinner" she calls out. I'm too scared to go downstairs. I don't want Liam, my older brother to laugh at me. I walk down the stairs slowly and quietly. I eat dinner slowly while my mom asks me about how school is going. "School's going well" I say. That's not really the truth. It's a lie. After I finish eating, I clean my dishes and go upstairs. My brother walks into my room and sits on my bed. He decides to ask me honestly, how school is going. I tell him everything. He tells me he understands me. I know he doesn't. He doesn't deal with Down Syndrome everyday of his life. He has a perfectly normal life and a girlfriend. "Like I'll ever get a boyfriend" I say to myself.  I love my brother a lot but he can be really bossy. My parents that I live with aren't my real parents. They're my foster parents. My real parents put me in foster care, ten years ago. I didn't know how to feel. I was scared. I'm not ready to face school tomorrow. Dylan's never gonna notice me. He's the most popular guy in school.
