Chapter 1:
"Jun! Ren! Breakfast!" A 33-year-old Yuka Mochida called to her twin sons. They came running down the steps. They swallowed the breakfast their mother made for them and headed to school with their mother, who dropped them off at their elementary school was on her way to work at Kisaragi Academy.
After the death of Yuka's husband, the family became quite close, and took Yuka's maiden name, Mochida.
The twin boys said their goodbyes to their mother and ran into the school. Yuka then proceeded to drive to her former highschool.
Years earlier
Naomi Mochida held a small bundle wrapped in a pink blanket in her arms. She sat in a hospital bed, Satoshi Mochida sitting at a chair at her side.
"I want to name her Kana." Naomi said with tears in her eyes. She had never been happier, except, maybe when her son, Riku, had been born.
"Perfect." Satoshi said and kissed Naomi on her cheek. "How do you think Yuka's doing with Riku?"
"I don't envy her. Being pregnant and all. At least her husband's got a few weeks off work." Naomi answered.
"I'd rather leave him with her then leave him with Ayumi. She already has Aya and Miki." Satoshi said.
"I can't wait to get home."
Years later
"Have fun on your first day of school, Miki." Ayumi Kishinuma said to her daughter, Miki. Miki's father, Yoshiki Kishinuma was taking her to school while Ayumi looked after their other daughter, Aya.
"I love you." Ayumi said.
"I love you to, mommy." Miki said.
"I love all of you." Yoshiki said with a smile.
Years later
"Guys, I found this cool thing on the internet." Fourteen-year-old Miki Kishinuma said to her friends Aya, Jun, Ren, Riku, and Kana. "It's a charm. It means we'll always be friends."
Yui pulled a small paper doll from her bag. The group had been hanging out together at the park. Their parents were all close friend, so they were very good friends.
The group nodded their heads and mumbled approvals. Miki held out the paper doll. "We grab a hold of this doll." Everyone held the doll.
"Wait..." Eleven-year-old Kana Mochida said. "What if it doesn't work?"
"It will, trust me." Miki answered. "Now everyone has to say 'Sachiko we beg of you' six times in unison. No more. No less." She instructed.
"Sachiko we beg of you,"
"Sachiko we beg of you,"
"Sachiko we beg of you,"
"Sachiko we beg of you,"
"Sachiko we beg of you,"
"Sachiko we beg of you,"
"Now we all pull on the doll until it breaks." Miki said. "3... 2... 1... Pull!"
The group pulled on the piece of paper and each got a piece. "Now, don't lose th-" Miki was cut short by rapid shaking on the ground.
"An earthquake!" Miki's sister, Aya yelled.
All Miki remembered after that was plunging into endless darkness.
