Chapter 22
(edited)
Getting up to pee the next morning I stumbled to the bathroom as quietly as I can, making sure not to wake Caleb. When I get to the bathroom I have this sudden urge to puke my guts out so I did. I sat there for about 30 minutes puking before Caleb came into the bathroom.
"Are you okay Katelyn?" he asked crouching down and rubbing the bottom of my back.
"No. I don't feel right." I manage to crock out. We sat there for another half hour while I puked some more. When I thought I was done we got ready for the day and went downstairs.
"Morning Mom." I said kissing her cheek.
"Morning honey." she smiled and continued to cut up fruit. Holding the fridge door open with my foot I searched for something to eat.
"Whoa Kate. Did you have a midnight snack or something?" Mom asked rubbing my belly. Caleb came over and starred at my belly with wide eyes.
"No I didn't. Why?" looking back and forth between Mom and Caleb I noticed they had the same look plastered on their faces.
"Honey go to my bathroom and in the cabinet on the right there's something you should use. Look at your belly while you are in there." she said pushing me towards the stairs. I heard Caleb and Mom whispering something as I walked away. Getting to her bathroom I opened the cabinet and just starred at the box of pregnancy tests.
Does she think I'm pregnant? How could that be? We did it last night but it takes at least two days to know with a half vampire. Shrugging I took one of the pregnancy tests and used it. Waiting for about 15 minutes for the color I jammed out to music. Finally I looked at it.
This one must be messed up or something. I took another one and did the same thing. I did it again and again until I used the whole box. The rage built up inside me, I took a glass container and threw it against the wall as hard as I could shattering it to tiny little pieces. Some of the pieces ended up in my cheek and neck but I didn't care right now.
"Kate? Are you okay? What shattered?" Caleb screamed barging into the bathroom. I just stud there unable to talk or move. He walked over to me and looked down at what I was starring at.
"Those can't be right. Go get another box and try again." He stuttered rubbing my shoulders.
"Caleb that's nine tests that are positive..." trailing off as I sat on the floor.
"We only did it last night. With a half vampire it would take two days at least before you know Kate." he stated sitting down next to me.
"I know that." tears were falling down my face as I starred at the tests.
"Then how is this possible?" he asked taking his hand off of my back. I didn't say anything. Just starred at the tests.
"Kate, explain what the hell is happening?" Caleb said louder this time. I could hear the aggravation in his voice as he spoke. I might as well go ahead and tell him the truth. There's no way I could lie about this. He knows its not possible.
Looking up I starred into his worried green eyes. I took a deep breath and prepared the words in my head.
"Its possible," I was stuttering so bad I hoped he wouldn't understand me taking another deep breath I continued, "because... It's not your baby."
