Octavia's POV

"I hate you! Why did you have to choose me? There were plenty of kids you could choose between! I'm so done with this." I yell at my 'parents' that adopted me when I was 7. They are the worst I know. They treat me like shit. I eat like two times a day if I'm lucky and I have to sleep on the ground if dad is not home. I have no idea why they adopted me after all. They couldn't give two shits about me.

"Get into your room!" Stephanie who is my 'mother' shouts at me, so I do. I hear her slam the door to her room and I know she's going to sleep since it is two-am. So I pull out my bag from my night-stand and start packing the things I will needed for hitch-hiking.

I have been waiting on this road for two hours now, and still nothing.

My name is Octavia Smith. I'm a brunette with blue eyes. My father was killed because he was one of the marked people. I got placed in an orphanage and every kid there was afraid of me because of my dad. I got adopted of the worst couple ever. I don't know if i can even call them a couple because they're allways yelling and throwing things at each other. But yeah that is it. Nothing more important to know about me.

I finally saw a car coming, so I got up from the ground. I reached my hand out and I hope they would actually stop. And happily, they did. The car stopped a little far away from me but I ran to it. When I reached it, I saw a man sitting there. He looked like a farmer kind of with the hat, his curls and his plaid shirt.

"What are you doing out here" he talked slow with a deep, raspy voice.

"I wondered if you could drive me to my village. It's not far away from here but it is too far for me to walk." I asked. The village is beautiful. Out in the woods but near a lake. It was my biological dad's. Only I know though. Because when I first found the place (running from the cops when I was an orphan and found out that those people wanted to adopt me) I found a picture of dad, and his biography. And he had the same last name as mine. McLean. And also said that he had lost his daughter Octavia Mclean. Who is me. But I don't know how I ended up in that orphan house or who brought me there because it was only him and me living here.

"Yes, I can do that for you. Jump in." He said and so I did. It was a silent ride though. Except for me giving him directions. But now he didn't follow my directions anymore. And I was starting to feel scared.
"You're going the wrong way, turn around!" I tried to tell him, but he wouldn't listen. I even started to scream but he only got madder and started driving faster.

"You should know that you shouldn't go hitch-hiking, princess." He said and suddenly the car came to a halt. And we were right in front of the woods. But not the ones that could bring me to my home. I knew that these wouldn't lead me to anywhere I wanted to go. I also knew that I wouldn't be going home any time soon either.
