"So, what were you all smiles about back there?" Ed asked. I smiled and said "Oh nothing." Ed raised an eyebrow and said "You had better tell me." I looked at him for a moment and said "It's seriously nothing. I'm just not used to people giving half a shit about me, so it's just new, that's all. People don't do nice things like this for me." Ed looked at me questioningly and said "How could someone not do these sorts of nice things for you? You deserve only the best things that the world can offer you." I smiled and said "Its not a big deal." I began walking in the direction of my flat and heard Ed's footsteps close behind. "What did you mean back there? You know, about the whole 'nobody does nice things for me' thing?" Shit. This is exactly what I was trying to avoid. Personal stuff. "I'm not really close to anyone, so nice things don't happen to me." I said calmly. Ed was not dropping the subject like I had hoped he would. "That is insane. I refuse to believe that you have absolutely no one that you are close to. What about your mum and dad?" I felt my entire body go numb, my outside physique go hard, and my jaw clench. I hadn't realized that I had stopped dead in my tracks when Ed asked me that. He looked at me with worry written across his face. "Can we talk about something else please?" I said, fighting tears. "Yeah, yeah of course. I am so sorry. I didn't mean to pry I was jus-" I cut him off and said "It's okay, I'm just not too close to my parents, that's all." Ed nodded, sensing that something was off. I started to walk in the direction of my flat once again. A semi-awkward silence followed us around like a bad smell as we walked. "So do you want me to pick you up tomorrow morning so I can get you a new mobile?" I smiled, having completely forgotten about getting to see him tomorrow. I was about to say yes when I remembered that he would see where I was currently staying, I'm not going to lie, I was pretty embarrassed. "How about we meet at that coffee shop back there?" Ed smiled and said "Sounds good to me." "My place is just up here, you don't have to walk me all the way." Immediately Ed began shaking his head and he said "No way Analee. I was raised to always walk ladies up to there doors so nothing happens to them." I couldn't help but smile at this kind gesture, but still I insisted. "No, really, it is right up here like by two doors." Ed looked skeptical but nodded his head, I'm guessing he didn't want to pry because of what happened earlier. "Thanks for the coffee and everything." I said to Ed. "Thank-you for letting me enjoy your company." Ed looked at me as if he were contemplating whether or not to kiss me again. I looked at my shoes and sighed. "About our kiss from earlier, I can't get involved with anyone right now, I was just caught up in the moment. I'm really sorry." Ed looked at me and lightly placed his hand on my shoulder, I unconsciously flinched away from the friendly gesture, causing Ed to drop his hand. "I understand that, but that doesn't change that I still want to get to know you. If you never want to have that sort of a relationship with me, than I can respect that. But you have to be my friend because I'm a socially awkward ginger with no friends and you would so boost my social class standing." I scoffed and playfully punched him in the shoulder saying "Oh shut up! That's so not true." Ed shrugged and said "That May have been slightly over dramatic but you do have to be my friend because.." He trailed off as he said that than surprised me by snatching my bag and saying "Because, if you ever expect to see this bag alive again, then you will have to be my friend." I began laughing and threw my hands up in the air in surrender and said "You have my friendship if you give me the bag back." Es gave it back to me and said "I'll see you tomorrow Analee." "See you tomorrow Ed." I turned and began walking to my flat which was still about a fifteen minute walk away. I took a short cut down an alley way and was so lost in thought about Ed, that I didn't hear the sound of another pair of footsteps behind me. I turned around and saw a man in a dark hoodie making his way towards me.
