I fell asleep fast. Today had been a hard day. I got fired again. My boyfriend dumped me and my mom told me she put my dad in a nursing home. As I fell asleep, I felt a little bit dizzy, then I was in a dark world. All around me there were wiry, dead trees covered in thorns. I heard giggles in the forest.
"Who's there?" I yelled as I walked in circles and looked over my should constantly. I could feel their eyes on me, whatever they were.
I heard a twig snap behind me and turned around to see a handsome man in black princely clothing. He held out a black gloved hand for me to grab.
"This is no place for a young princess to play! Come! Follow me and I will take you to the kingdom of black."
I took his hand and followed him. As I looked down I realized I was wearing a white dress that poofed out at my waist. He lead me into a grassy clearing, filled with beautiful flowers and people talking dressed in black clothing. I realized I was the black sheep here- well white sheep technically. I am the odd one out. Right as I walked in the clearing everyone stopped talking and mechanically turned their heads to face me. They all waved and smiled at me like puppets on a string. They continued to stare at me until I was across the clearing. We kept walking, with every encounter of a person going the same way. As I looked at them, I thought- maybe I was just seeing things- that there were strings connected to the people wearing black.
He led me into a giant black castle. The castle was magnificent, with a moat filled with strange black liquid that flowed like molasses. He led me through the main doors showing a large hall with a throne at the end. The throne was black but seemed to glow slightly. It was made out of a completely black shiny stone. A woman sat on it wearing a black gown and a bored expression.
Her eyes narrowed at me. "Where have you found this white girl? I thought everyone wanted to be with us, The Blacks. Is she here to change herself?"
The prince bowed then responded with, "I found her in the dead forest. She seemed to be lost. She does not fit in and I think she should, considering it would be rude to ignore someone who was forced to join white."
"What are you talking about? Whats going on?" I said confused. They are talking about me like I'm not even here!
The Queen smiled at me pleasantly. "Well it's a simple question really. Do you want to be with the royalty? Or do you want to live with the people in white."
