Ok, so my guided reading teacher, Mrs. Shorb, made a debate project. My debate is: 'Should summer break be shorter?'. My side is: 'yes, it should be shorter'. Right now, since I just got this project today, I'm going to list some reasons why it should and should not be shorter. So basically, I'm just debating with myself.
Number one: As you all know, the longer you're away from a learning environment, the more you will forget.
Now that's not necessarily correct. You learn something everywhere, even away from school.
Number two: Some kids don't do anything during this three months away from school (at least I think it's three months).
But some people go to other learning systems. Such as a mathematics camp. Maybe they go around the world to Germany. They would be learning about another country.
Number three: If we did school year round, we could celebrate almost everyone's birthday and holiday.
As much as you may want to have free food(if you get them at your school)(if you even go to school), some people like to be with their family during their birthday and would enjoy the day off.
Well that's all I could think of at the moment.
