Hades stood close behind me, his chest brushing against my shoulder every time he breathed in. Gazing up at him, I was trying not to move in case the slight contact would disappear. Hades stared down at me with a soft smile playing on his soft lips.

His focus no longer on the redhead behind the desk, who sat staring at us with her mouth slightly open. I realised then that Hades had also attracted the attention of most of the people around us. I could feel their gazes burning on me from all directions. I blocked them out and let my focus be only on Hades which I found very easy to do.

“I was becoming impatient and thought about waiting at the college for you.” His soft-spoken voice sent shivers along my skin. “Then I thought that might seem clingy,  but I felt you come into the building and I couldn't hold myself back from coming for you.”

They say you get used to the things you love if you have too much; listen to your favourite songs on repeat and you wear it out; eat too much of your favourite cake and it will make you sick.

I could never imagine getting too much of Hades. I would like to try though.

His smile stretched across his face and he seemed so much younger, it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I also realised I was just staring at him and had yet to actually say anything to him.

“I could feel you but couldn't see you. Do you enjoy sneaking up on me?” I raised an eyebrow at him, accusingly. A breathy laugh came from him and he looked as if I just caught him with his hand in the cookie jar.

“Guilty, I just really like this deer in the headlights look you get.”

“You know that's pretty creepy right?”

“Creepy?” He thought about it for a second. “Yeah, I can live with creepy.” He reached down and took my small hand in his large one but the size difference made them fit perfectly together and nothing had ever felt more right. I could feel the silver runes on my hand and arm come alive and shift under his touch.

He began leading me past the reception desk, not giving anyone a second glance as they seemed to stop what they were doing to move away from him. He leads us down a long corridor towards a golden elevator, we barely paused before the doors opened to allow us entry.

“Sensors?” I asked. It does not surprise me that a company like Falcon would have the highest tech.

“Yeah, that and facial recognition. Only certain- individuals have access to the top floor.” He said with a shrug. He paused for a second to think about his choice of words before saying ‘individuals’, making me think that wasn't what he would usually call them.

“Well since you brought it up.. What is it you do here? You never said.” I looked at him with suspicion in my eyes.

His thumb was drawing soft circles where he still held my hand and his focus was on our golden, silver runes moving together like the tide moves against the shore.

“I run things.” It was all he said, not looking up from the runes till the elevator doors opened up.

I didn't think about what I could expect when the doors opened, I'd learnt long ago that expectations were never met. That didn't stop me from being completely amazed by Hades’ office.

Where the parts of the building I have seen have been bright, pure and white colours; Hades’ office was pure darkness. From the dark grey carpet, the black walls, black marble desk and coffee table. At the far end of the room stood a massive fireplace fit into the wall; black and gold designer couches positioned opposite each other close to the fire. Another marble coffee table between them, with a blue lotus, stood in the centre of the coffee tables.
