"Mom, I am only going back to help Grandma and the business. You think Larissa will live with Grandma for a year and take over the family business? I didn't think so. I will be fine, I promise."
She sighs. "Okay, but you can come back home if you want to. You don't have to take over the business if you don't want to."
"I know, but I want to do it for Grandpa and dad." I say.
"Okay, I love you sweetheart." She says.
"I love you too mom."
That was the end of our conversation.I will be spending my last year of high school taking care of my Grandma. Ever since Grandpa died last spring, she has been an emotional wreak. I was going to spend this coming summer with her, but the board of my Grandpa's company (Cooper's oil company) wanted me to come down and meet with them and sign some papers. Plus, I thought it would be good to come down early and take care of my Grandma sooner than expected.
I get off the plane and head to baggage claim. I see my bags that have my name on them coming down the moving belt.
After I grab my bags, I phone my Grandma.
"Hello" I can hear the exhaustion in her voice.
"Hey Grandma, I thought I would just let you k ow that I made it off the plane and am heading to your house" I say."Okay, I can be there in 30 minets." I can hear her shuffling in the back round.
"No, I don't want to trouble you. I will just get a cab or ride the bus." I try to convince her.
"If that's what you want. Just be careful, okay?" she sighs.
"Yes Grandma, and aren't I always?" I laugh.
We end the conversation there. I start for the area where all the taxis and ubers are. I see one and take it. The driver takes my bags and puts them in the trunk.
I slide in the backseat and as soon as he gets in the car I tell him the address. We arrive at the front gates to my grand parents house. They were on the rich side of the social scale. My Grandpa was the C.E.O of his family Oil Company, like I have said before. My father was supposed to inharret the company after my Grandpa's passing, but died in a boating accident 4 years ago. My dad loved to go on adventures. That part of him is what made my mom fall in love with him in the first place.
Now, my Uncle Steve is supposed to be the next heir to the company, but my Grandpa wanted me to be the one that got it. Since I am the eldest of my siblings and I am my fathers daughter.
I am actually very happy Steve isn't inharreting the company. There is just something very off about him. I just don't know what it is yet.
Anyways, back to my grand parents house, or should I say mansion? Granted it is one of the smaller mansions in the area, but it is still pretty huge. I push the red button so the gates could open.
"Who is it?" A male voice said through the speaker.
"Katherine Cooper" I state.
"Come on through Miss Cooper." As soon as he said that, the driver moved through the gates. The outside of the house is filled with red bricks, the front porch has white walls, and has three pillars that hold up the top two floors. Their is a stair case that leads up to the porch.I can see that the inside of the house is dark, except for one light that is on in the front loving room.
I can not believe she waited for me. I told her I would be fine.
I pay the driver and head inside the building with my luggage.
I knock on the front door a couple times before it opens.
I was surprised to see who opened the door. It was not my Grandma.
"What are you doing here?" I glare at the boy on front of me.
"Nice to see you too, Kit Kat." He smirks.
Why would Sam be here?
