(Jughead's Voice over, Mr Andrews dream sequence)

Our story continues.
The Mayor's Jubilee was supposed to change everything.
Be a new start.
But when we woke up the next morning, Riverdale was still, at its heart, a haunted town.
Meanwhile, Archie Andrews, who doesn't even have a driver's license yet, is at this very moment careening down the streets of Riverdale, - trying to outrace death.
Now, I don't believe in miracles, usually, but it was a miracle that Archie got his dad to Riverdale General without wrecking the truck.

" I'm right here, Dad, I'm right here. Okay. I'm right here. I'm right here. Dad? What gives?" Archie asks standing next to everyone all in their graduation robes
" Take the picture." Jughead says
"The ceremony starts in the gym in ten minutes." Emily says
" Yeah, Dad, what's taking so long?" Archie agrees
" I Just can't believe we're here, Archie. We're at your graduation. I...I didn't think I'd live to see this day." Mr Andrews says
" Yeah, except you didn't, Mr. A." Jughead says
" What?" Mr Andrews asks confused
" You didn't live to see this day." Betty says
" Don't you remember?" Emily asks " At Pop's?" Veronica adds. The Black hood walks in and points the gun at them and Mr Andrews jumps in front of them yelling
" Everybody down!" Then the gun fires.

Emily's POV
" Good morning, sweetheart." My dad said as I sat down at the table for breakfast with him.
" So, what did you and your friends do after the Jubilee?" He asked
" We went to Pop's...And then, Jughead and I went back to FP's trailer." I said and he looked at me with caution.
" Emily, If that beanie-wearing cad defiled you, at least please tell me that you were safe." He said
" What? No, Dad, we didn't. I mean We almost did, but then we were interrupted.." I started rambling
" Good" He said interrupting me
" By the Southside Serpents." I finished
" What? By those thugs? See, I knew that Jughead was gonna follow in FP's criminal footsteps."
" Dad!" I said angry
" What? He's no good for you Emily. I don't want you hanging around with him" he said
" Well too bad" I said standing up " I love him and I will never stay away." I said walking out and slamming the door on my way. Once I was outside my phone rang. It was Archie, when I answered he told me his dad was shot and I immediately ran there.

" Arch? God." I said walking over to him and giving him a hug.
" I came out of the bathroom and there was this man, thief Wearing this hood, with a gun on Pop Tate, and then he pointed it at my dad and he fired." He said once I let go and sat next to Jughead.
" Oh, my God, Archie." Veronica said
" And then he.." he started but stopped
" And then he what?" Betty asked
" And then he bolted. Then I was holding my dad, Pop Tate called an ambulance and it didn't come so I drove here and [sighs] And I don't know, maybe I should've waited, maybe I made it worse.." Archie said but was cut off by Jughead
" No, dude, are you kidding me? You saved your dad's life." He said
" First Cheryl, and now your dad. If you keep this up, you're gonna need a superhero name.
Like Pureheart the Powerful." Veronica said. The doctor came out and came up to us.
" There isn't any new information. Your dad's in surgery. He's gonna be there for a while." He said before walking away
" Uh, Archie. Have you spoken to your mother about any of this yet?" Betty's Mom asked him.
" No. No, I haven't called her. I'll be right back." After he left Betty's Mom sighed and looked at Jughead.
" Mom. Do not start this." Betty said
" Start what? Well, of course, I can't help but wonder if your Southside associates had anything to do with what happened to Fred." She said
" Unbelievable. At least you can't accuse my father of being the shooter, considering he's in jail." Jughead said shaking his head.
" Oh, my God, I can't handle this." Veronica said
" Sheriff." Archie said making me look up to see my dad looking down at me next to Jughead.
" How's your dad doing?" He asked turning back to Archie
" He's still in surgery." Archie said sadly
" Archie, I know this is a hell of a time for you, but perhaps we could go somewhere and talk about what happened." My dad said
" Is it cool if I tag along?" Jughead asked from next to me
" Actually, if you don't mind..." my dad started but was cut off by Archie
" Yeah, that'd be great, Jug." He said before the walked away. About 15-20 minutes later Archie came back without Jughead.
" Where is Jug?" I asked him
" He went to go check on something for me, he'll be back" he said.
" Archie Andrews?" Someone said making us all turn to face him. " I'm Steven Masters, I'm your father's doctor." He said
" How is he?" Archie asked worried
" Well, we got the bullet out. And we've stopped the internal bleeding. But what's most worrisome is, he's not breathing on his own yet." The doctor said
" I need to see him." Archie said
" And you will. As soon as we've got him set in a room, you'll be able to sit with him. Should be an hour or two at the most." The Socorro said calmly before walking away
" And until then, what am I supposed to do, nothing?" Archie asked turning to us.
" Maybe..Maybe you should go home and get changed." Veronica said
" No, I'm not leaving." Archie immediately replied
" No, Archie, wait. Veronica's right." I said
" Here are your dad's clothes and personal belongings." A nurse sad handing him his dads stuff " Everything he had on him."
" Okay, well, yet another reason to go. You can get your dad a change of clothes." I said
" Veronica will go with you. Right, Vee? We'll hold the fort down here." Betty said
" Archie, try not to worry. Your dad is strong.
He's a fighter. Fred Andrews isn't one to leave unfinished business behind." Mrs Cooper said before Veronica and Archie left.

" Dad, come on. The car's waiting. You're gonna be late." Archie said to his dad in his office.
" I'm not ready to go, Archie. Something doesn't feel right." His dad replied
" I'm gonna be fine, Dad. You don't have to worry about me." Archie said
" That's what I do, son. That's what I've always done." Mr Andrews replied
" Yeah. And you deserve a break.
Okay? I'll handle things from now." Archie said with a smile
" It doesn't feel right. Just - It's too soon." His dad said
" You can't change your mind now, Dad.
They're waiting for you." Archie said
" Who's waiting?" Mr Andrews asked confused
" Uncle Oscar, Grandpa Artie." Archie said
" What are you talking about, son? They're dead." Mr Andrews said before there was banging on the door
" That's them." Archie said looking at it.

Jughead's POV
" I got nervous when you said to meet at the hospital." Tall boy said when I walked outside the hospital to meet them. Archie asked me to see if it was possible a serpent was the Black hood.
" I was wondering about when you said the Serpents had my back. Does that courtesy extend to a guy who's like my brother, and a man who's like a second father to me?" I asked him
" What do you need?" He asked
" Fred Andrews, my buddy's dad, was just shot, during a robbery at Pop's. The guy was in a black hood." I said
" Serpents don't wear masks." He responded
" Yeah, I get it. But some of those Serpents were working for Fred Andrews when, for reasons of his own, he decided to let them go suddenly. Maybe someone took it personally and went rogue. You guys know every hidey-hole in town. Someone has to have heard something about what went down at Pop's." I said
" All right. We'll knock some heads. Let you know." He said before he and his two friends got on their bikes and ride away.

Emily's POV
" Thought you might want some company." My brother said sitting next to me.
" Thank you." I said as he handed me a cup of coffee
" Of course all any of us can think about is Mr.
Andrews. But if we weren't so focused on his well-being, - I'd be asking if you and..." he started but I quickly cut him off
" We didn't. Jughead and I didn't do it. If that's what you were asking." I said
" So nothing happened?" He asked looking at me like he didn't believe me
" He told me he loved me. And yes I know he has before but this time it was different. He genuinely meant it and it was so deep and pure, like from in a movie when they say sparks fly." I said with a smile
" Wait, what? Jughead Jones was 'genuine and pure'? Mr. 'I'm weird, I'm a weirdo'?" He asked
" And I told him I loved him back. Well And then things got..." I started and me and Kevin fished at the same time with me saying "Complicated." And him saying "Weird?"
" In a "my boyfriend may be joining the Serpents" kind of way." I said
" Emily, no. No way. I mean, did you learn nothing from me and Joaquin?" He asked
" Oh, come on, Joaquin was nice." I said setting my cup on the table in front of me.
" Yeah, when he wasn't dumping bodies in Sweetwater River or mopping up buckets of blood." He said making me roll my eyes and look over to the hallway where I saw Cheryl walking behind her Mom on a medical bed on its way to the ER.
" What the hell?" I say before getting up to go talk to her with Kevin walking behind me,
" Cheryl, what's going on? Is that your mom? What happened?" I asked
" Oh, haven't you heard? There was a terrible fire at Thornhill last night. I might've perished if not for Mommy's heroics." She said
" Oh, my God, is this the apocalypse?" Kevin asked from next to me
" After my ordeal at Sweetwater River, I was asleep when the fire started. They think it was a breeze knocking over a lit candle, catching the curtains. Mommy got home from the Jubilee and rushed headlong into the blaze, risking her life to save mine. Unfortunately, she suffered third-degree burns and acute smoke inhalation. What are you two doing here?" She asked with an innocent smile.
