The lesson was long and tedious. They weren't even entirely sure I was even going to be able to do it because no one knew what capabilities I would inherit with the werewolf gene, and the lesson had not started off well. Essentially we were re-training my brain, teaching it to respond an look for someone to speak telepathically no matter how far the distance. To take it slowly we had Aiyu come back into the room so I could attempt to reach her. Learning to hear them was the easy part, Mrs. Okami had explained that simply enough.
"You'll feel a bit of pressure if you do indeed have this ability. It will almost feel as if someone were knocking on a door in your mind. You need to imagine opening that door, letting us in, feeling us." She had said.
It had still taken an hour or so before I finally heard Aiyu's voice. I looked around at Mr. and Mrs. Okami excitedly just to be sure that Aiyu hadn't actually spoken aloud. To my great pleasure she hadn't and I had indeed succeeded. It was a small victory though, the real battle was to get her to hear me.
It was only when I got so frustrated (about 2 hours later) I all but shouted in my head "THIS IS STUPID, I'LL NEVER GET IT" that Aiyu had finally heard me!
"There!" She said. "You got it!"
"Got what?" Kana asked, now entering the room.
"We've been teaching Misa how to communicate telepathically and she finally got it!" Aiyu said excitedly, jumping up and down.
"Oh really....?" Kana asked in what sounded like a sarcastic tone of voice. "Like she needs to know that. No one thought to ask or warn me that you were going to teach her some ability like that!? Sometimes I think I'm the only one here with a fuckin' brain."
Concern flared up once more with that harsh tone and words. What could possibly be wrong with Kana? She just didn't seem pleased or as excited as the others were to see me. She acted like the sight of me made her nauseous...and she looked....different. Her hair cut short, her expressions stone cold.
"Don't worry about her." Ryou's voice said popping into my head. "She won't be excited with you being any part of this world."
I straightened up instantly, a chill going down my spine upon hearing his voice in my head, it instantly sent me thinking to the dream I had.
"You okay dear?" Mrs. Okami asked with her own look of concern.
I couldn't tell her that I was thinking a weird dream involving her son but I also couldn't let her think that Kana's tone had upset me.
"I'm fine I just caught a chill or something I think." I said quickly.
"Come up here." Ryou's voice said.
"I got a bit of a headache from the lesson and I feel exhausted, is it ok if I go lie down for a bit or do you need me for something here?" I asked everyone.
"Oh please, don't feel the need to ask. Rest darling." Mrs. Okami responded.
I knew they wouldn't have said no but it was polite to ask regardless. I turned and left the room, heading up to where I had come from. I walked up the stairs, turned the corner to the room I had been in to run right into Ryou.
"Well, ouch." He said with a smile.
His messy bed head, gray track pants, and lack of shirt causing my face to heat up a nice embarrassing shade of red.
"Why the red face? It's not the first time you've spent a night at my family's home, this is not a new look." He said chuckling.
God, I was so embarrassed, my face probably turning an even brighter shade of red. The dream still on replay in my mind.
"You-u told me-e to come up here....why?" I said stuttering, totally not pulling off the 'I didn't care' attitude I had been hoping for.
"I wanna take you somewhere.....if you'll come with me that is." He said.
